INTELLIGENT DESIGN: A TENTATIVE EXPLANATION OF ITS DRAWBACKS IN THE FIELD OF SCIENCE

I have initiallly, in the French text, written that there can be no design for Nature, since the later is immortal. However, a defendant of this teaching method can infer that even if Nature is not created, there can be designs for the many aspects of Nature, those will become the laws of Nature in an Universe created by God. The true problems about Intelligent Design teaching is that it may communicate to the student in the field of science a paralysing restraint, since if God or any supernatural spirit is behind everything in the world one should expect that those things work perfectly. Therefore, the discoveries of the laws set by God may not yield to any improvement or correction to what has laid mother Nature.
A defendant of this kind of teaching can tell, the devil, in some instances, can prevent it to work perfectly; men, therefore, cannot have any control on nature, on natural things and events because their evolution, their destiny has been set by a supernatural spirit. If I became sick, for example, I can say it was wanted by God as a punishment or worked out by the devil who does not like me. So why should I look after a doctor? I just can pray God to have me healed, the doctor being only an instrument in the hands of a supernatural spirit.

I remember that at Saint Louis de Gonzague, the brothers still want the students of the final classes to believe in a God who created the Universe, even if his hand is not behind the "everyday event". "God", for them, "has created the world but he lets things evolve by themselves; however, he will be there at the end of the world, at the last judgment." The truth is that there will be an end of the world, the disparition of our universe; it is very probable, almost certain with the laws of Greater Entropy assuring that every thing and every system in our universe been destroyed so that new things and new system be build and mother nature rejuvenated, so that it can last for ever. However, science teaches us that only mother nature will do it by itself and will create new universes, where men will or not will be present, and I am adding, at least, for some time. Because mother Nature is not perfect, as we can expect it from God, we can still hope to control it and even to become gods ourselves. Nevertheless, if it was possible, it would have already happened, one can infer; it would also to be somewhat an handicap to eternal mother Nature, since we, humans, are known to be the majors destructors of her realizations.
At Saint Louis de Gonzague, also, the La Menais brothers taught us, in the final classes, the social and human lessons of Christ withouth ever having mentioned the Bible and the story of creation. Therefore, we can still believe in Christ withouth having to believe in the story of the creation. At Jean de Brebeuf where I was initiated to the theory of the evolution of the living beings, the Jesuit fathers did not teach biology but they were still teaching physics and astronomy in the final classes. Can they still be teaching them? Since Stephen Hawking, physics and astronomy have well evolved beyond their reach and have passed the assertion of father Le Maitre. So God may not exist - it is almost certain, it is certain - and Intelligent Design is just a "hook" to be getting rid of in science.
