Malcolm Wilson Rally 6 March

Motorsport News March 13 2002
Click her for video of the event. Roger teamed up with codriver Barry Young for this event. Based in the Cumbrian town of Cockermouth the Malcolm Wilson rally uses the Grizedale Forests. Saturday dawned a cold and windy winters day and the problems started when snow started falling when the cars moved onto the second stage. On this event the 1400 cars run at front of the field which is usually an advantage as it gives the cars a run on the roads when they are at their smoothest. In this instance running at the front of the field was a distinct disadvantage and the 1400 cars struggled for grip on the fresh snow. Despite several near misses, hitting a small (luckily dead!) tree in a ditch and numerous sideways moments Roger and Barry were able to get the car home in one piece and in 1st place in Class N1.
