Rally of Kent 13 October 2001

Saturday was a beautiful autumnal day, the leaves were just turning, the sun shone down and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky. A perfect day for a drive in the woods!

For this event Roger was joined by co-driver Ian Lowe who agreed to do the event at the last moment. The pair left the start at 9.40 and headed into the forests for the first 3 stages. These stages went well and the pair emerged in 22nd position, from 41 starters, ahead of at least one Subaru Impreza ! However on the run back to the service halt the engine began to falter.

Back at the service halt, the service team, Paul, John and Dominic worked frantically to fit a new ECU, spark plugs and HT leads. This was completed in the 20 minutes allowed, however the problem was not cured.

The car continued to malfunction and hiccupped its way around the industrial wasteland that was the location for the next 4 stages.

The team made it to the finish still in 22nd place, having completed the last stage in the dark.
