Norwegian Fjords Kayak Trip

The Campsite on the first night. Small Islands outside Stavanger.

This page describes a superb kayak trip that I have done a couple of times on the west coast of Norway. If you have 4 days free then you can do this trip from London or other location with flights to Stavanger in Norway. The kayak route is from Stavanger and then down Lysefjord a long spectacular Fjord to the South West of Stavanger. This is the route of a tourist ferry that will pick you and your kayaks up from various points on the route and take you back to Stavanger when you have finished.

The weather is generally cool and wet. However it very rarely gets below 5 deg C and can be quite warm (20 deg C) in summer. Generally you should be equipped for wet weather.

The Itinerary is roughly.

Day 1: Travel to Stavanger and pick up kayaks. Paddle to a small island outside Stavanger and camp for the night.

Day2: Kayak and camp.

Day 3: Kayak and take tourist ferry (with kayaks) back to Stavanger. Stay in Stavanger overnight, camp or hotel.

Day 4: Return home.

Where to rent the kayaks ?

What about the ferry ?

The Ferry runs on Sunday all year round so this trips works perfectly if Day 3 is Sunday. The Ferry runs other days during the summer.
