Bingley Bike Ride 1: a circular route from the Five Rise Locks through Riddlesden, Rivock Edge and Silsden
  thirteen miles approx.
This ride starts from the Five Rise Locks and takes you north-west along the canal from Bingley. When you reach the Riddlesden Swing Bridge by the Marquis of Granby pub, turn right across the  bridge. Head up the road, bearing left and take the long hard pull up Banks Lane until you meet the Silsden/East Morton road.Turn left and after a few hundred yards take the signposted bridleway heading off right through a gate. The track takes an abrupt left turn and heads toward the TV mast Before you reach the mast turn right and go through a gate. The bridleway now leaves the track and heads diagonally left across the usually sodden fields, through a gate and then through another gate which leads into the forestry plantation. The forest track was once a vile combination of deep bog and tree roots but at present you sail through atmospheric, dense forestry on an excellent surface almost to the farm house at Black Pots.
A short rougher section leads past Black Pots where you pick up a tarmac road that takes you past the Doubler Stones through farm gates to Lightbank Lane. Follow this lane past Nab End until you meet Brownback Lane coming up from Silsden. Take Lippersley Lane, the  bridleway directly opposite which takes you past the houses, through a boggy section and then   down to the Silsden/ Addingham road . Turn left, climb over the brow of the hill and then freewheel down into Silsden (chippy on the right). Just before the bridge over the canal turn left onto the East Morton Road and then almost immediately right under the murky bridge (carrying the canal) onto Hainsworth Road. Follow this until it becomes Low Lane. Just before Low Holden Farm you can turn left and join the canal via a wall stile, or you can follow the bridleway further on a rough green lane until it joins the towpath. Follow the canal tow path back through Riddlesden into Bingley.
