| As it's Happening! Sunday 22-May-05 0830: Time to bring on the Oxytocin! Once again the contractions slowly ebbed away last night - so no new arrival this morning :-( Anyway, the signs are good as the cervix did dilate further and so is responding properly to the contractions. So as it's all ready to go this morning Naomi will be given Oxytocin, a natural hormone that really gets contractions going. Of course there is still the possibility that if the contractions don't coordinate properly things still won't progress, but when it comes to inducement Oxytocin is the real-deal! So, I'll say it once again, with everything crossed, hopefully soon Bjrn will finally come and join us in the big wide world ;-) Saturday 21-May-05 2330: I think Bjrn is really milking it now! Most of today nothing happened. By about 7pm contractions began again and steadily strengthened. The last control this evening the contractions were 5 minutes appart, although not really strong ones, and slightly more dilated again. If they keep up we're hoping for some real action tomorrow morning, but we'll wait and see - just like his parents, Bjrn doesn't like early starts! Naomi is in good spirits despite the waiting and Bjrn is doing great as well. Oh, and apparently he's a long baby - don't where he got that from ;-) Saturday 21-May-05 0820: Nothing happened during the night :-( The control this morning showed a little more dilation and Bjrn's head had moved down further. Naomi has had a further inducement this morning but other than that nothing to report, except this morning will be spent having a long breakfast at our friendly cafe followed by the washing and other exciting stuff like that (me not Naomi!) until Bjrn decides he's finally going to make a move on. Kids these days!...I blame the parents :-) Friday 20-May-05 2140: No new arrivals today! Naomi is having fairly frequent contractions now but not yet of consequence, but of course everything could change during the night. If nothing does change then they will try to speed things up a bit in the morning. Bjrn is doing fine as is Naomi, although a little tired, but I think she'll sleep well tonight following all the walking we did! I'm absolutely shattered too and we haven't even started yet, but at the same time I can't wait until Bjrn makes his move and decides to come and join us. Friday 20-May-05 0830: I've just got time to do a quick update while I eat my 3 Wheatabix in preparation for the day ahead. Tests this morning showed that the baby is fine and that Naomi's blood pressure was good and other signs of pre-eclampsia had also gone. Anyway, rather than come home and wait and worry they started to induce at 8 o'clock this morning. She was already 1 cm dilated before they started. So I'll be going in shortly to join her! Thursday 19-May-05 2200: I decided that it was about time that we had our own website and decided that now is the time to do it. I've just left Naomi at Bruderholz hospital after we went there at about 2pm this afternoon as the doctor decided to induce Bjrn because of signs of pre-eclampsia. It was time for him to make a move on! Anyway, Naomi is doing great (blood pressure went down as soon as we got to the hospital!), she will stay in overnight and tomorrow morning they will induce Bjrn. So in true Naomi style we have a time and date for the birth, or at least when it all begins...! |
