Some unusual items

from my collection

Just pictures of some items in my collection. This selection was taken from some cards produced for the 1936 winter Olympics. The winter Olympics had a set of 175 cards, the summer (Berlin) Olympics had a set of 200 cards.

• The GB team who won the gold medal. (Card no 36 in the set)
• The US team who won the bronze medal. (Card no 37 in the set)
• Action from the Canada v USA game. (Card no 34 in the set.)
• Japanese goalie Teiji Homna. (Card no 39 in the set.)

In 1954 A. & B. C. Chewing Gum produced the All Sports series of cards, as far as I know only 10 featured ice hockey players.

Some 1930's cigarette cards featured ice hockey players.

Others featured speedway.

• Sanella Margarine an early German card circa 1930.
• The old Brighton Ice Stadium, home of Brighton Tigers. This was probably taken soon after it opened in 1935.
• Partie de hockeyTaken at Les Avants circa 1907. The open air rink at Les Avants was the site for the first European Championship in 1910 (won by GB- Princes IHC).
• Dutch humour circa 1905
• Kitsch card circa 1905
• Winter scene in Winnipeg no date, but judging by the ladies dresses early this century. (Note hockey player center ice)
