We did not spend too much time chasing blues last year. We picked up a few when we weren't even trying, though. Rogue Blues. Gotta love 'em. Just when the action seems to slow down for a while, a chopper challenges you to a fight. Gets the blood flowing again, if you know what I mean. Schools of blues inhabited the shorelines in late September for awhile. Some schools were also seen while drifting the sticks in late afternoons. They took diamond jigs, mackerel chunks and clam gobs. Hell, they will eat just about anything. We fished one night for stripers along the beach using live eels last year. They didn't have a chance. Everyone we cast came back sorter each time. The Blues were mauling them so we switched rods and took quite a few real fast. Evenings are still the best time to take blues. Oh, yeah. Chum.

Rod : Medium to Heavy, 7 foot.

Line : 20-40 pound test, 40-50 pound leader.
