We love striper fishing. There is nothing like the fight of a large striped bass on the other end of your line, spooling your reel. Last year we caught a 43 inch 40 pound monster. It's our boat record, that's for sure. Fresh bunker filet did the trick on an early moring hook-up. Had him hooked with a medium action rod and 10 or 12 pound test. It took us a half hour to get it up to the boat, and the gaff sure came in handy (See the picture at the top of our home page). The catch was fantastic and the release, well there was no release. That one went in the cooler and later made an excellent meal. Plugs and poppers work great at night, working the jetties or other shallow structure. Live eels at the right time in the right place produce the best action.
