| IV. King of Arms Obtains Fighters Oaths At this time the processions have ended, The King of Arms causes his trumpeter to spound attention, and calls all fighters to the field. Once enough participants have taken the field the King of Arms will say the following or something close to it: "High and powerful princes, lords, ladies, barons, knights, and squires, each and every one of you, please raise your right hand on high, towards the saints, and all together, as you will in the future, promise and swear by the faith and promise of your body, and on your honor, that you will strike none of your company at this tourney knowingly with the point of your sword, and that no one will attack or draw on anyone unless it is permitted, and also to observe all holds as given, and you agree that if you knowingly do otherwise you will be banished from the tourney; also to observe the orders of the Marshals and Knight of Honor, " King of Arms The fighters should answer: "I do swear!" V. The Challenge Round - 12:30 Once the fighters have been sworn in, and the rules explained, the King of Arms will tell the Challengers to retire to their side and begain to issue challanges to the noble Defendants. The Ladies Gallery may have a page ask the participants for certain pairings. The Marshals shall insure that each challenge is fought in good order, until such a time as the King of Arms causes his trumpeter to sound attention and start the next round of the tournament.
