"Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them."
- Ann LandersOn this page I will provide race reports for some races I have run. I will also provide my thoughts about running including the training that I do to prepare to race.
The summer of 2006 was a break through year for me when it comes to running. I ran the Fredericton Marathon in the spring of the year with very average results. I think the base that I set for myself by doing that race, however, was a good thing, because for the rest of the summer I noticed that running times in my triathlons dropped significantly.
I have one race report from the summer of 2006 and that is a my partial participation in a trail race called Conquer the Canuck, which was not an official race on my part, but I wrote it up anyway.
I the fall of 2006 when the triathlon season was almost over, I posted my personal best time in a 10 km race at the Fall Classic in Fredericton. I bested my previous 10k time by almost 5 minutes, a stunning result. Later in the fall I ran in the Moncton Marathon and broke my personal best time by 27 minutes and in the process I qualified for the Boston Marathon in the spring of 2007.
So in the spring of 2007 I did what I had planned to do in the fall of 2006, I ran back to back marathons one month apart. The only difference in my plan was the races were not in Moncton and Fredericton, they were in Rome and Boston, a much more interesting set of races.
The end of my spring running season is almost upon me and I have posted race reports of the Boston Marathon and the Rome City Marathon on my Workout blog. I hope you find them interesting and informative. I have one more run planned this spring and that this my forth year participating in the Cabot Trail Relay. Stay tuned for my race report from that event and from the whole event that surrounds it. I will write it up on my Workout Blog were I have already made some preparatory remarks on May 19th, 2007.
