The Future of the Barber Shop - Communication Problem

I think the barbershop is thriving here in Indiana! I am a female barber, 28 years old and I work in a shop with an older guy. His shop is so busy it's always full of people.

I think the only reason people end up in salons is because the older barbers don't communicate with the customers. They just cut hair and usually too short. I think the younger barbers are learning more techniques and are going to keep the business of barbering going. I love what I do and feel proud to keep a traditional career alive! I look at my customers when they leave and think, a cosmetologist could not do that nice looking taper I just did. Ya know?

My barber school in Louisville, KY was well run and fun to be in. It was always full of students and had lots of repeat customers.

P.S. I just wanted to comment that in Indiana and Kentucky there are still barber schools. I was not aware that some states did not have barber schools. I don't know if I would have gone to cosmetology school. I really wasn't interested in doing nails and perming!
