Brief history of service
The South Atlantic Blockade Squadron was responsible for all naval operations on the east coast encompassing South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Their area of influence was not only as a blockading fleet offshore but also as an active arm to bring the war into the heart of the Confederacy via the river systems.
