The Thoughts of an American

It's simple, really.

1. US depends on cheap Arab oil to power its economy.
2. Israel somehow "persuades" the US to start attacking Arab nations.
3. Arabs stop providing cheap oil to US.
4. US Economy crashes.
Good job there, Dubya. What the USSR could not do to the US in 50 years, you did in just 5.

New style Suicides continue

In what appears to be the new style, Yuri Kravchenko, former interior minister of the Ukraine, committed suicide by shooting himself two times in the head. Gary Webb also managed this feat, but I hope prospective suicides don't start to take this as some kind of dare, thinking that the old one-shot suicide is somehow passé. It could turn ugly, with people attempting three- or even four-shot suicides. Suicide is not a competition! Hunter Thompson managed to beat everybody, managing to shoot himself in the head with a non-functioning gun that produced no sound of a gun shot.

Planet X : More sightings

It seems that all of a sudden this rather large redish-brown planet has emerged, to the right of the sun at sundown. waited until the sun set and the object could be seen by the naked eye. It gets very bright and brown when the sky gets fully dark. At twilight I could measure the 20° angle with the horizon and take the picture. The background was dark by then. [and from another source] This dramatic photo capture of the Dark Twin shows the yellow/blue colors described during naked eye viewing, and is similar to the photo capture last Jan 20 in China when the twin emerged from behind the Sun and was visible next to and behind the Sun, reflecting the light of the Sun for a few weeks.

Taken Behind Green welders glass

Today went out to pick up my child from school in New York. On our way to the car, I glimpsed up at the sky, looking at the glaring Sun and to its left and right, looking to find what I've been searching for, a glimpse of Planet X. I finally spotted it but it was not next to the Sun. I believe I have witnessed, to the far left of the Sun, an amber-colored orb sitting in the sky. It's further away from the Sun now, not next to it as formerly said. It was around 3:00 PM in the afternoon. My child also saw it and was in awe as she finally understood what I meant about Planet X. There were others there, staring up at the sky at this anomaly, but yet could not comprehend what they were looking at. However, they went on with their lives, and even if I could have explained what it truly was to them, they would call me a head case and simply continued on in their denial. [Note: both this report and a photo from Italy show the location of Planet X to the left of the Sun, at present, as viewed from Earth.]

Direct Deception Dollar Action at A Store Near You

In response to the recent attack on the 9/11 Movement by Popular Mechanics magazine, Deception Dollars have been seen being inserted into the March editions at news racks everywhere to educate readers about the real 9/11 scam. Coverage of the famous Deceptions Dollars was avoided in the PM article because the Dollars contain the more serious websites that question what really happened on 9/11. For example, incredibly, the article cites an Indymedia link to a posting on a 9/11 item as an example of a '9/11 website'.

Unidentified Lights in Sunrise Photograph from Long Island, N. Y. On Friday, April 23, 2004, around 7:30 AM, Marjorie noticed how beautiful the sun was behind cloud cover and got her camera and a piece of dark welder's glass she uses when she aims straight at the sun. Between normal-looking images, there were two abnormal ones that had a spiral of six lights right in front of the cloud-covered sun and a seventh, dimmer light, to the left.’ [and from another source] Look at the Complex this morning! The Progress Report

Thursday 20 January 2005

Due to $17 million worth of inaugural security - paid for by the city of Washington, D.C. - the Progress Report is unable to access its office. Never fear - it takes a lot more than that to keep us down. We put this list together for you ahead of time. Your regularly scheduled Progress Report returns tomorrow.

A look at this week's festivities by the numbers:

$40 million: Cost of Bush inaugural ball festivities, not counting security costs.

$2,000: Amount FDR spent on the inaugural in 1945 - about $20,000 in today's dollars.

$20,000: Cost of yellow roses purchased for inaugural festivities by D.C.'s Ritz Carlton.

200: Number of Humvees outfitted with top-of-the-line armor for troops in Iraq that could have been purchased with the amount of money blown on the inauguration.

400: Pounds of lobster provided for "inaugural feeding frenzy" at the exclusive Mandarin Oriental hotel.

3,000: Number of "Laura Bush Cowboy cookies" provided for "inaugural feeding frenzy" at the Mandarin hotel.

$1: Amount per guest President Carter spent on snacks for guests at his inaugural parties. To stick to a tight budget, he served pretzels, peanuts, crackers and cheese and had cash bars.

22 million: Number of children in regions devastated by the tsunami who could have received vaccinations and preventive health care with the amount of money spent on the inauguration.

1,160,000: Number of girls who could be sent to school for a year in Afghanistan with the amount of money lavished on the inauguration.

$15,000: The down payment to rent a fur coat paid by one gala attendee who didn't want the hassle of schlepping her own through the airport.

$200,500: Price of a room package at D.C.'s Mandarin Oriental, including presidential suite, chauffeured Mercedes limo and outfits from Neiman Marcus.

2,500: Number of U.S. troops used to stand guard as President Bush takes his oath of office

26,000: Number of Kevlar vests for U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan that could be purchased for $40 million.

$290: Bonus that could go to each American solider serving in Iraq, if inauguration funds were used for that purpose.

$6.3 million: Amount contributed by the finance and investment industry, which works out to be 25 percent of all the money collected.

$17 million: Amount of money the White House is forcing the cash-strapped city of Washington, D.C., to pony up for inauguration security.

9: Percentage of D.C. residents who voted for Bush in 2004.

A Real AMERICAN HERO: Senator Boxer

Statement On Her Objection To The Certification Of Ohio’s Electoral Votes

January 6, 2005

For most of us in the Senate and the House, we have spent our lives fighting for things we believe in – always fighting to make our nation better.

We have fought for social justice. We have fought for economic justice. We have fought for environmental justice. We have fought for criminal justice.

Now we must add a new fight – the fight for electoral justice.

Every citizen of this country who is registered to vote should be guaranteed that their vote matters, that their vote is counted, and that in the voting booth of their community, their vote has as much weight as the vote of any Senator, any Congressperson, any President, any cabinet member, or any CEO of any Fortune 500 Corporation.

I am sure that every one of my colleagues – Democrat, Republican, and Independent – agrees with that statement. That in the voting booth, every one is equal.

So now it seems to me that under the Constitution of the United States, which guarantees the right to vote, we must ask:

Why did voters in Ohio wait hours in the rain to vote? Why were voters at Kenyan College, for example, made to wait in line until nearly 4 a.m. to vote because there were only two machines for 1300 voters?

Why did poor and predominantly African-American communities have disproportionately long waits?

Why in Franklin County did election officials only use 2,798 machines when they said they needed 5,000? Why did they hold back 68 machines in warehouses? Why were 42 of those machines in predominantly African-American districts?

Why did, in Columbus area alone, an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 voters leave polling places, out of frustration, without having voted? How many more never bothered to vote after they heard about this?

Why is it when 638 people voted at a precinct in Franklin County, a voting machine awarded 4,258 extra votes to George Bush. Thankfully, they fixed it – but how many other votes did the computers get wrong?

Why did Franklin County officials reduce the number of electronic voting machines in downtown precincts, while adding them in the suburbs? This also led to long lines.

In Cleveland, why were there thousands of provisional ballots disqualified after poll workers gave faulty instructions to voters?

Because of this, and voting irregularities in so many other places, I am joining with Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones to cast the light of truth on a flawed system which must be fixed now.

Our democracy is the centerpiece of who we are as a nation. And it is the fondest hope of all Americans that we can help bring democracy to every corner of the world.

As we try to do that, and as we are shedding the blood of our military to this end, we must realize that we lose so much credibility when our own electoral system needs so much improvement.

Yet, in the past four years, this Congress has not done everything it should to give confidence to all of our people their votes matter.

After passing the Help America Vote Act, nothing more was done.

A year ago, Senators Graham, Clinton and I introduced legislation that would have required that electronic voting systems provide a paper record to verify a vote.

That paper trail would be stored in a secure ballot box and invaluable in case of a recount.

There is no reason why the Senate should not have taken up and passed that bill. At the very least, a hearing should have been held. But it never happened.

Before I close, I want to thank my colleague from the House, Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones.

Her letter to me asking for my intervention was substantive and compelling.

As I wrote to her, I was particularly moved by her point that it is virtually impossible to get official House consideration of the whole issue of election reform, including these irregularities.

The Congresswoman has tremendous respect in her state of Ohio, which is at the center of this fight.

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones was a judge for 10 years. She was a prosecutor for 8 years. She was inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame in 2002.

I am proud to stand with her in filing this objection.

Report concludes "the U.S. invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq have created a shared anti-American cause among otherwise-divided Muslim extremists . . ."

Familiarizing oneself with PNAC and its agenda of maintaining "American [global] preeminence through the coming transformation of war made possible by new technologies" ("Rebuilding . . . ," pages 2-3) is all one really needs to know about the outright insanity that poses as American foreign "policy" today. I've cribbed the following few nougats from "Rebuilding . . ." to provide a brief taste of PNAC nuttiness:

One of PNAC's "four core missions for U.S. military forces" is to "perform the [global] 'constabulary' duties associated with shaping the security environment in critical regions" (page iv).

Nothing like being the world's top cop (or bully) to help "protect American interests and principles" (page 3). PNAC talks a lot about American interests and principles. I suspect these "interests" might quite closely mirror those of American corporations. I'm not so sure about the principles, though.

Torture, anyone?

Another "Rebuilding . . ." goodie: "Control the new 'international commons' of space and 'cyberspace,' and pave the way for the creation of a new military service—U.S. Space Forces—with the mission of space control" (page v).

The USSF will surely have spiffy-lookin' uniforms, perhaps modeled upon Dubya's "Dictator Special" jacket (complete with Marine Corps patch, "Commander-in-Chief" stitching, and, of course, epaulets,) he wore while speaking at Camp Pendleton recently.

"America Is So Much Better than This" By Senator Russ Feingold

The administration's record of the past four years suggests a foreign policy careening out of control, driven by ideologues who want to test their theories in the laboratory of the Middle East one minute, by domestic political considerations the next, and by spiteful attempts to punish those who disagree with their methods the next.

Where is this going? Who is in charge? Who knows? No one ever seems to be held accountable for the blunders, the failures, the wildly inaccurate presentations and projections or the painfully ineffective initiatives. Congress cannot simply accept more of the same, keep our heads down and hope that somehow we will muddle through. The stakes are far too high. Our national security, the stability of the world that our children will inherit, our troops - even our country's honor - are on the line. Congress has an obligation, not to oppose every administration effort, but to reassert our role in helping to steer the ship of state wisely rather than recklessly. I look at our foreign policy over the past four years, and I know that America is so much better than this

Letter from an American soldier in Iraq

After the search was over and we discovered there were no weapons of mass destruction (the reason for which we to sent to fight and die), then President Bush announced that we are here not for WMD but for freedom of the Iraqis. That’s the biggest crock we have ever heard over here. Every soldier and marine here knows that the people don’t want us here. The see us as exactly what we are, foreign occupiers of their country who have killed tens of thousands of civilians including thousands of women and children in so-called collateral damage.

It costs Washington $1.6 billion US monthly to keep Karzai in power. Without the foreign troops' bayonets, Karzai's little puppet regime would quickly be swept away.

Blackwell Locks Out Recount Volunteers

On Friday December 10 two certified volunteers for the Ohio Recount team assigned to Greene County were in process recording voting information from minority precincts in Greene County, and were stopped mid-count by a surprise order from Secretary of State Blackwell’s office. The Fallujah Concentration Camp

Retina scans to get into your own home. Work details under armed guard. No cars. Military armor on every corner. All men to be shot on sight after curfew. No freedom of movement. These are just some of the details of the new order in Fallujah (and one assumes any other Iraqi city that the US destroys in the future). Somewhere between a concentration camp and what US troops called a strategic hamlet in Vietnam, this is the latest version of Washington's freedom and democracy installation in Iraq. How much clearer does it have to become before the US media and its brainwashed audience admit to themselves that this whole adventure is about domination and control? If there are any arms caches left in Fallujah after the US military finishes its so-called security searches, one can guarantee that these draconian measures being put into place will insure that those weapons will be used against US forces.

Who the hell do the US forces think they are? No matter how many ID badges they make people wear and guns they point in their face, they will not gain the trust of these people. That moment passed months ago. The oil that Washington wants to control will never be under their control and neither will the people of Iraq. This latest plan - a plan that essentially turns the Iraqi cities into prison camps - acknowledges that the US has lost the battle for many Iraqis hearts and minds and that it can only hope to get its way via coercion and murder. One only has to look at France's Algeria, Israel's Palestine, or Washington's Vietnam to realize the historical possibilities.

Yesterday, a National Guardsmen asked Donald Rumsfeld why soldiers were forced "to dig through local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromised ballistic [i.e., bulletproof] glass to uparmor our vehicles". Rumsfeld's reply had two parts. First, he condescended: "[I]f you think about it," he said, "you can have all the armor in the world on a tank and a tank can [still] be blown up." Then, he explained: "You go to war with the Army you have, not the Army you might want or wish to have at a later time."

Why America MUST take the Middle East

December 10, 2004—Okay, now that Michael Ruppert and others tell us that in just 100 years the human race, mostly the West, mostly America, has used up half the world's oil, which took nature millions of years to produce, we have reached the state of Peak Oil. That is, America's peak supply output came somewhere back in the mid 1970s, and since, like most of the world's supply, has been bell-curving down, while demand has been bell-curving up. And so alarm bells are ringing everywhere. The frantic chase is on to monopolize oil and natural gas supply, from here to the Middle East, from Russia to the Caspian Basin, the Ukraine to Uzbekistan, the Caucasus to Canada, Africa, South America and all stops north, south, east and west.

The irritation among the rank and file became all too clear this week when a soldier stood up in a televised session with Donald Rumsfeld, the US Defence Secretary, to ask why the world’s richest army was having to hunt for scrap metal to protect its vehicles.

The same night, interviews with three soldiers who are seeking refugee status in Canada, where they have become minor celebrities, dominated prime time television. They are among more the than 5,000 troops that CBS’s 60 Minutes reported on Wednesday had deserted since the war began.

Cap Harnesses Human Thought to Move PC Cursor

Scientists have developed a non-invasive brain-computer interface that enables a person to move a cursor across a computer screen just by thinking about it. The device resembles a swimming cap riddled with electrodes, which users wear against their scalp. A computer program translates electrical signals in the brain to physical outputs, which govern the movement of a computer cursor.

The technology could enable people paralyzed by spinal cord injuries and strokes, for example, to control their brain activity in order to communicate via computer or to move mechanical devices.

Why the Feeney vote-rigging story sounds like disinformation

Why the Feeney vote-rigging story sounds like disinformation ABOUT DISINFORMATION: Like a good lie, it has elements of truth. Trouble is, the truth doesn't relate to the nuts and bolts of the story. For example in the Tom Feeney vote-manipulation story, people are documenting relationships between Tom Feeney and Yang, and between the writer of the story and other scandals, but so far the evidence presented does not back up the vote manipulation story itself.

DISINFORMATION IS DANGEROUS TO THE CLEAN VOTING MOVEMENT: Black Box Voting is finding real evidence consistent with fraud. We are even finding, in one of our investigations, evidence consistent with a systemic, or widespread breakdown in security, possibly exploited. Getting the facts is tedious, unexciting work, consisting of auditing and personal interviews, and it takes time. Many Americans want a magic bullet, a single shot that will blow the lid off everything at once.

That's risky. If the mainstream media continues to be bombarded with stories that sound credible, but aren't, when the real thing comes down the pike it will be ignored.

Breaking News! Texas to Florida: White House-linked clandestine operation paid for "vote switching" software

. According to a notarized affidavit signed by Clint Curtis, while he was employed by the NASA Kennedy Space Center contractor, Yang Enterprises, Inc., during 2000, Feeney solicited him to write a program to "control the vote." At the time, Curtis was of the opinion that the program was to be used for preventing fraud in the in the 2002 election in Palm Beach County, Florida. His mind was changed, however, when the true intentions of Feeney became clear: the computer program was going to be used to suppress the Democratic vote in counties with large Democratic registrations.

According to Curtis, Feeney and other top brass at Yang Enterprises, a company located in a three-story building in Oviedo, Florida, wanted the prototype written in Visual Basic 5 (VB.5) in Microsoft Windows and the end-product designed to be portable across different Unix-based vote tabulation systems and to be "undetectable" to voters and election supervisors.

In the autumn of 1999, Curtis, who served as a sort of technology adviser for Yang, first became aware of Feeney's interest in election rigging. Curtis said at one meeting, Feeney "bragged that he could reduce the minority vote and deliver the election to 'George.'" At the same meeting, according to Curtis, Feeney said he had "implemented a list that would eliminate thousands of voters that would vote for Democratic candidates" and that "a proper placement of police patrols could further reduce the black vote by as much as 25 percent."

Way to Go, Ohio

In Franklin County, the head of the board of elections, who happens to be the former head of the Franklin County Republican Party, failed to provide the necessary number of voting machines at the polls, even though he was made aware of the great increase in voter registrations and even though he had 68 extra voting machines available, according to Bob Fitrakis of the Columbus Free Press. In that city, "voters waited in the heavily Democratic wards between two and seven hours," he writes.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, voting machines were actually added in Republican precincts and taken away in Democratic ones.

Ohio voters have also given sworn testimony at public hearings of machines switching their Kerry votes over to Bush.

And in some heavily black precincts of Cleveland, obscure third party candidates were getting half to two-thirds as many votes as John Kerry, Fitrakis discovered, as did Juan Gonzales at The New York Daily News.

"In precinct 4F, located at Benedictine High School on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive," wrote Gonzales, "Kerry received 290 votes, Bush 21, and Michael Peroutka, candidate of the ultra-conservative anti-immigrant constitutional Party, an amazing 215 votes! . . . In precinct 4N, also at Benedictine High School, the tally was Kerry 318, Bush 21, and Libertarian party candidate Michael Badnarik 163."

New round of challenges in Ohio vote

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Two major challenges are expected to unfold Monday when Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell certifies the state's final presidential election results, declaring President Bush the winner by about 119,000 votes.

Lawyers representing voters upset about problems at the polls plan to contest the results with the Ohio Supreme Court, citing documented cases of long lines, a shortage of machines and a pattern of problems in predominantly black neighborhoods.

In addition, third party candidates, bolstered by a favorable federal court ruling, plan to file requests for a recount in each of Ohio's 88 counties. About 400 people rallied at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus on Saturday to demand a recount begin immediately.

Daily News investigates vote totals in Ohio to reveal how possibly thousands of votes meant for John Kerry somehow ended up in the tallies of the two independent candidates.

In virtually all those precincts, Kerry's vote was lower than Al Gore's in 2000, even though there was a record turnout in the black community this time, and even though blacks voted overwhelmingly for Kerry.

If this same pattern held true in other cities around Ohio, then quite possibly thousands of votes meant for Kerry somehow ended up in the tallies of the two independent candidates. So far, however, precinct-by-precinct results have not been posted by boards of elections in other counties, but by Thursday all official results are due.

On Monday, Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell will certify Ohio's results and then a manual recount will be requested by the Green and Libertarian parties.

Zapped human eggs divide without sperm

A trick that persuades human eggs to divide as if they have been fertilised could provide a source of embryonic stem cells that sidesteps ethical objections to existing techniques. It could also be deployed to improve the success rate of IVF.

“Embryos” created by the procedure do not contain any paternal chromosomes – just two sets of chromosomes from the mother – and so cannot develop into babies. This should remove the ethical objections that some people have to harvesting from donated human embryos. There are high hopes that stem cells, which can develop into many different cell types, could be used to treat a range of diseases.

Something's fishy in Ohio BY JESSE JACKSON

In Ohio, a court just ruled there can't be a recount yet, because the vote is not yet counted. It's three weeks after the election, and Ohio still hasn't counted the votes and certified the election. Some 93,000 overvotes and undervotes are not counted; 155,000 provisional ballots are only now being counted. Absentee ballots cast in the two days prior to the election haven't been counted.

Ohio determines the election, but the state has not yet counted the vote. That outrage is made intolerable by the fact that the secretary of state in charge of this operation, Ken Blackwell, holds -- like Katherine Harris of Florida's fiasco in 2000 -- a dual role: secretary of state with control over voting procedures and co-chair of George Bush's Ohio campaign. Blackwell should recuse himself so that a thorough investigation, count and recount of Ohio's vote can be made.

Blackwell reversed rules on provisional ballots in place in the spring primaries. These allowed voters to cast provisional ballots anywhere in their county, even if they were in the wrong precinct, reflecting the chief rationale for provisional ballots: to ensure that those who went to the wrong place by mistake could have their votes counted. The result of this decision -- why does this not surprise? -- was to disqualify disproportionately ballots cast in heavily Democratic Cuyahoga County.

Blackwell also permitted the use of electronic machines that provided no paper record. The maker of many of these machines, the head of Diebold Co., promised to deliver Ohio for Bush. In one precinct in Franklin County, an electric voting system gave Bush 3,893 extra votes out of a total of 638 votes cast.

The president's real goal in Iraq

In recent days, those missing pieces have finally begun to fall into place. As it turns out, this is not really about Iraq. It is not about weapons of mass destruction, or terrorism, or Saddam, or U.N. resolutions. This war, should it come, is intended to mark the official emergence of the United States as a full-fledged global empire, seizing sole responsibility and authority as planetary policeman. It would be the culmination of a plan 10 years or more in the making, carried out by those who believe the United States must seize the opportunity for global domination, even if it means becoming the "American imperialists" that our enemies always claimed we were.

Once that is understood, other mysteries solve themselves. For example, why does the administration seem unconcerned about an exit strategy from Iraq once Saddam is toppled?

Because we won't be leaving. Having conquered Iraq, the United States will create permanent military bases in that country from which to dominate the Middle East, including neighboring Iran.

In an interview Friday, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld brushed aside that suggestion, noting that the United States does not covet other nations' territory. That may be true, but 57 years after World War II ended, we still have major bases in Germany and Japan. We will do the same in Iraq.

Fallujah's 9/11: U.S. Used Weapons of Mass Destruction

The bomb blitz featured weapons of mass destruction: banned napalm-type munitions, chemical poison gas and super-bombs of up to 2,000-pounds. The ground assault was indiscriminate. The target was a city where at least 60,000 civilians outnumbered rebel fighters by over thirty to one.

The attack on Fallujah was the worst single terrorism atrocity since 2,752 people died in New York on Tuesday, 9/11/2001. Around two hundred were killed in the 3/11 Madrid train bombings and a similar number in the Bali blast. But, the Iraqi Red Crescent fear that up to 6,000 may have been killed so far, in the terror which is being visited on Fallujah.

If the emerging reports prove true, the US military commanders and their political superiors, who ordered the atrocities must be tried for war crimes. The evidence of those crimes is accumulating, as accounts by aid workers' from inside Fallujah manage to bypass reporting restrictions.

Iraq ; 'Unusual Weapons' Used in Fallujah

Hammad is from the Julan district of Fallujah where some of the heaviest fighting occurred. Other residents of that area report the use of illegal weapons.

”They used these weird bombs that put up smoke like a mushroom cloud,” Abu Sabah, another Fallujah refugee from the Julan area told IPS. ”Then small pieces fall from the air with long tails of smoke behind them.”

He said pieces of these bombs exploded into large fires that burnt the skin even when water was thrown on the burns. Phosphorous weapons as well as napalm are known to cause such effects. ”People suffered so much from these,” he said.

I refuse to fly anymore. I refuse to be treated like a criminal

I am one of those suspicious characters that every single time I fly, get "selected" for "special screening." I get to take off my shoes, spread my legs and arms to get "wanded" and then get patted down. When I ask why I was picked out of line, I was told that it was simply "random screening." The problem is that I "randomly" get selected every single time.

Let me confess what kind of "criminal suspect" I am: I served in the US Marine Corps from 1964-1968, twelve months of which I was in Vietnam as a Marine infantryman, hunting Vietcong for Uncle Sam's Shooting Club. I was wounded in action and medevaced home. I was awarded six combat decorations including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign medal. I went on to serve later in the Army National Guard, as an NCO, then obtaining a comission as the oldest member of my OCS class. I rose through the ranks, eventually transferring ot the Army Reserve to serve as a company commander, battalion staff officer, and finally an intel officer. I retired in 1999 as a lieutenant colonel with 30 years total service. I am now also a 60% disabled vet due to combat wounds which have worsened over the years.

At the same time my day job was as a police officer. I served 26 years with the Tulsa PD, working uniform, plain clothes, SWAT, bomb squad and finally as a police helicopter pilot for 3600 hours of flight time. I received the department's Medal of Valor, two Chief's Medals, and the Department Commendation Medal. Not exactly the profile of a terrorist suspect, eh?

Media Blackout on Election Fraud by Media News Group

To those of us on the inside of this issue, it seems inconceivable that our local newspapers would offer a front page story on election fraud in Ukraine while ignoring stories of the same right here at home in the United States. Every day, since November 2nd, 2004, stories have emerged detailing such things as malfunctioning voting machines, fraudulent election records in Volusia, Florida, inconsistent numbers of voter registrations vs. vote totals in Ohio, credible university studies showing serious statistical impossibilities in election results, and much more. Yet, these daily revelations have been almost completely ignored by our media. These reports are coming not from persons with tin foil hats as is often claimed, but from PhD level citizens, election officials, and voting rights activists.

But to the rest of America, who get their information from corporate owned media sources, there is nothing missing from the daily news. That's because, if they don't report it, it didn't happen. For most of America, we trust our local papers to report honestly and fairly. But what many of us don't realize is that our local newspapers are not so local after all.

"The principal seems to be systematically censoring material that refers to Christianity, and it is pure discrimination."

How the Grinch stole the White House . . . again

November 20, 2004—Despite corporate media attempts to kill or ridicule away the story, Talk Radio and the Internet are abuzz with considerable evidence that John Kerry was elected president on November 2, but that Republican election officials made it difficult for millions of Democrats to vote while employees of four secretive, GOP-bankrolling corporations rigged electronic voting machines and then hacked central tabulating computers to steal the election for George W. Bush.

The Wall Street Journal recently revealed that: “Verified Voting, a group formed by a Stanford University professor to assess electronic voting, has collected 31,000 reports of election fraud and other problems.” AP/ABC observes that some of the first 1100 problem machines were taken off-line—but many others were not.

University of Pennsylvania researcher Dr. Steven Freeman, in his November 2004 paper “The Unexplained Election Poll Discrepancy,” concludes: “The odds of the discrepancies between predicted [exit poll] results and actual vote counts in Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania could have been due to chance or random error are 250 million to 1,” so the unavoidable hypothesis is that they were caused by “systematic fraud or manipulation.”

UL Executive Speaks Out on WTC Study

"The buildings should have easily withstood the thermal stress caused by pools of burning jet fuel." - Kevin Ryan

We know that the steel components were certified to ASTM E119. The time temperature curves for this standard require the samples to be exposed to temperatures around 2000F for several hours. And as we all agree, the steel applied met those specifications. Additionally, I think we can all agree that even un-fireproofed steel will not melt until reaching red-hot temperatures of nearly 3000F (2). Why Dr. Brown would imply that 2000F would melt the high-grade steel used in those buildings makes no sense at all.

Bev Harris Finds 'Missing' FL Vote Records In Trash!

Kathleen Wynne and I showed up at the warehouse at 8:15 this morning. There was Lana Hires looking especially gruff, yet surprised. She ordered us out. Well, we couldn't see why because there she was, with a couple other people, handling the original poll tapes. You know, the ones with the signatures on them. We stepped out and they promptly shut the door behind us.

There was a trash bag on the porch outside the door. I looked into it and what do you know, but there were poll tapes in there. They came out and glared at us. We drove away a small bit, and then videotaped the license plates of the two vehicles marked 'City Council' member. Others came out to glare and soon all doors were slammed.

So, we went and parked behind a bus to see what they would do next. They pulled out some large pylons, which blocked the door. I decided to go look at the garbage some more. Kathleen videotaped this. A man came out and I immediately wrote a public records request for the contents of the garbage bag, which also contained ballots -- real ones, but not filled out.

A brief tug of war occurred, tearing the garbage bag open. We then looked through it, as Pete looked on. He was quite friendly.

We collected various poll tapes and other information and asked if they could copy it for us, for our public records request. "You won't be going anywhere," said Pete. "The deputy is on his way."

UC Berkeley Research Team: Electronic voting irregularities may have awarded 130,000 to 260,000 excess votes to Bush in Florida

A research team at UC Berkeley will report that irregularities associated with electronic voting machines may have awarded 130,000 - 260,000 or more excess votes to President George W. Bush in Florida in the 2004 presidential election. The study shows an unexplained discrepancy between votes for President Bush in counties where electronic voting machines were used versus counties using traditional voting methods. Discrepancies this large or larger rarely arise by chance -- the probability is less than 0.1 percent. The research team, led by Professor Michael Hout, will formally disclose results of the study at the press conference.

The media see it now, of course after thousands of voices all over the world cry out. They finally see the implications of such behaviour and considered the repercussions of a lawless and illegal war. As Norman Hermant from Lateline (ABC) rightly points out, if the insurgence think that coalitions forces take no prisoners or that they will be summarily executed even when unarmed they will fight to the death.

Yasser Arafat : Death, Delusion and Democracy

It's worth noting how this narrative has been written. The Israelis, with their continued occupation, their continued illegal construction of colonies for Jews and Jews only on Arab land, their air strikes and helicopter executions and live-fire shooting at stone-throwing children, are not part of this equation. They are just innocently waiting to find a new "negotiating partner" now that Arafat is in his grave. Ariel Sharon, held "personally responsible" for the 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre by the Kahan commission report, remains, in George Bush's words, "a man of peace". No one asks whether he can control his own army. Or whether he can control his own settlers. He wants to close down the colonies in Gaza - even though his spokesman has told us that this will put Palestinian statehood into "formaldehyde".

Bush threatens mankind, says Caldicott

11/16/04 "SMH" --- Nobel Peace Prize nominee Dr Helen Caldicott fears US President George Bush's re-election will lead to Armageddon and she isn't sure if mankind would survive another four years.

"This is the most serious election that has ever occurred in the history of the human race, without a scrag of doubt," she told smh.com.

"I don't know if we'll survive the next four years ... I don't think the Americans have, on the whole, the faintest idea - and I have to say also I don't think most Australians do either. But it's not just the threat from nuclear war. It's the threat of what's happening to the environment, the global warming which is occurring rapidly now, to ozone depletion, to species extinction, to deforestation - it's the whole thing."

Speaking from her son Will's Boston home, the Australian paediatrician, who runs the Nuclear Policy Research Institute in Washington, has just spent a frantic two-and-a-half months criss-crossing America to deliver her anti-nuclear and anti-Bush message. She discovered the country was more divided than at any time since she first stepped onto American soil in 1966.

Early on election day she was convinced Democratic challenger John Kerry would win but reality soon set in. "This is what I've been afraid of and I actually can't believe it's happening," she said. "The voter turnout was so high, which should have supported Kerry.

"I don't think I've ever felt so personally, politically devastated in my life and that includes when [former president Ronald] Reagan won a second term of office - which was pretty devastating for me as I was so heavily involved in the anti-nuclear movement in those days.

"But this is worse, these people are much worse than the Reagan people."

The Despoiling of America

It happened quietly, with barely a mention in the media. Only the Washington Post dutifully reported it.[1] And only Kevin Phillips saw its significance in his new book, American Dynasty.[2] On December 24, 2001, Pat Robertson resigned his position as President of the Christian Coalition.

Behind the scenes religious conservatives were abuzz with excitement. They believed Robertson had stepped down to allow the ascendance of the President of the United States of America to take his rightful place as the head of the true American Holy Christian Church.

Robertson’s act was symbolic, but it carried a secret and solemn revelation to the faithful. It was the signal that the Bush administration was a government under God that was led by an anointed President who would be the first regent in a dynasty of regents awaiting the return of Jesus to earth. The President would now be the minister through whom God would execute His will in the nation. George W. Bush accepted his scepter and his sword with humility, grace and a sense of exultation.

Intelligent American Voters Lost More Than An Election

It is so blatantly arrogant and hypocritical for an American government to have the audacity to destroy another country under the pretense of "spreading democracy", when this same government can't even ensure that our own democratic system will work on the most critical day of the year. We've had almost 230 years to perfect our brand of democracy, and this is the best we can do? What kind of democracy should Iraqis expect from us? That's a rhetorical question, of course, as democracy was never the reason for destroying Iraq.

I wonder if the religious voters who are so jubilant over their influence on this election even realize what they've done. Are they aware that there is a bill being considered now to grant God more power than the U.S. Supreme Court? This bill probably sounds like a wonderful idea to these religious voters, but the Founding Fathers (many of whom were religious) are turning in their graves. When drawing the blueprint for this country 230 years ago, they made absolutely sure that government and religion would remain seperate. It has always been a cornerstone of what America represented to the world - freedom.

Yet, as these voters wave flags and proclaim their fervor to "let freedom ring", they elect someone who promises to do his best to undermine freedom in our own country, as he did with the so-called "Patriot" Act. As these same religious voters enthusiastically warn that other more tolerant religions encourage a prophetic doomsday "New World Order", this is exactly what George W. Bush has been pursuing for four years. Do religious voters even see the contradiction? Granted, they believe that the world is 6000 years old, and that fossils are planted by a spooky boogieman named Satan to deceive people (like those blasphemous scientists do), but voting for Bush?

Widespread Voting Problems in Nashville

Despite lengthy preparations and an unprecidented number of early voters, reports of voting problems were widespread across Nashville today. In a large number of cases involving questions of voter eligibility, poll workers were unable to reach Metro election officials to resolve the problems, and in many cases had to send voters away without voting or with instructions to come back later. Why election officials were not able to respond to poll workers in a timely fashion is not yet clear. Other problems included confusion over absentee ballots, lack of handicapped access to polling facilities, long lines, and voters being required to declare their party affiliation before being allowed to vote.

"American soldiers operating on Canadian soil."

Crucial to preserving Canadian sovereignty is maintaining an independent armed forces. The Americans want us to fold our military into theirs but Ottawa knows that Canadians want no part of it. That's why the Liberals might try this "about a year from now when people cool down..." because "command under one commander may create perceptions of sovereignty issues". Unbelievably, Ottawa is willing to pursue this in spite of "difficult questions about the legal liability of Canadian soldiers answering to a U.S. commander and American soldiers operating on Canadian soil." You read that right: "American soldiers operating on Canadian soil." That means that should there be a major terrorist attack that can somehow be tied to Canada, the Americans will have the legal right to occupy our country.

Outrage in Ohio: Angry residents storm State House in response to massive voter suppression and corruption

Toledo, Ohio Hundreds of angry Ohio residents marched through the streets of Columbus—Ohio’s Capital—this evening and stormed the Ohio State House, defying orders and arrest threats from Ohio State Troopers. "O-H-I-O ! suppressed democracy has got to go,"they chanted. After troopers pushed and scuffled with people, nearly a hundred people took over the steps and entrance to the State’s giant white column capital building and refused repeated orders to disperse or face arrest. People prepared for arrests, ready to face jail—writing lawyers phone numbers on their arms, signing jail support lists and discussing non-cooperation and active resistance (linking arms, but not fighting back).

A freshly painted banner held on the steps read "ONE VOTE DENIED = DEMOCRACY IN TROUBLE! 100’S OF 1000’S OF VOTES SURPRESSED = DEMOCRACY FAILED" articulated the crisis. An unprecedented massive grassroots voter registration and get out the vote effort and widespread opposition to Bush went up against the massive coordinated Republican effort to suppress, intimidate and possibly steal millions of votes. In addition to the voter suppression and intimidation is the fact that Bush campaign co-chair Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell is in charge of the election and vote counting. But much deeper questions about fundamental flaws in the system hang in the air.
