Dear (Coach):
Just a quick note to introduce you to Jessica Smith, one of the finest basketball players I have had the pleasure to coach within the past several years. Jessica was the center on this year?s regional championship team, helped lead us to the second conference championship in her career, and distinguished herself and her teammates in the process. The team has the reputation of being one of the best in the school's history, and Jessica earned All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State honors.
Jessica is 6'2" and, although she has played with her back to the basket throughout much of her high school career, she has the ability to play any position other than point guard on the court. She has an excellent jump shot (averaging 22.3 points per game this season), can rebound as well as anyone in the area, and has the kind of court sense that results in assists and breakaway opportunities in every game she plays.
I have been coaching high school basketball for 25 years and am pleased to say that this is one of the best players I have ever coached. She will be a standout in college because of her basketball ability, leadership skills, and strong academic performance. Jessica will be with you for all four years and is likely to mature into an even better player than she is now. She already is an excellent student. She has earned a 3.4 GPA in a college prep program, a 25 composite on her ACT, and academic honors throughout her four years of high school.
I am certain that you will like Jessica. Call be at your convenience for additional information. I will be pleased to send videotapes for your evaluation. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your time.
