We would like to, especially, recommend Peterson?s Visual and Performing Arts and The Performing Arts Major?s Guide, by Carole J. Everett, Former Director of Admissions, The Julliard School. These books have listings of the best programs at colleges and conservatories worldwide, have advice from the leading experts in the field, and gives tips on how to assess your talent. You may be unsure whether you want to pursue a degree at an institute that focuses solely on the arts or at a liberal arts college or university that provides a greater diversity in course offerings. One choice is not necessarily better than the other?it depends on you goals. Many professional programs will be more competitive in the particular field you want to enter?your audition or portfolio review is then all-important. A liberal arts college or university may be more difficult academically; there your SAT scores, for example, will play a bigger role in the admissions process. Hopefully, you will find this supplemental guide helpful in your research. It is important to be brutally honest with yourself as you go through the college process. You must also, refer to the NBS COLLEGE GUIDE to ensure you understand the complete college process including the appropriate college testing requirements. Remember, there is no "best" school, only the best school for you! YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY! HAVE FUN ALONG THE WAY! |
