Imagine this - you, living on a houseboat in the very center of Amsterdam, opposite the famous Noorderkerk marketplace, heart of the ever popular Jordaan neighborhood...

Hi! My name is Ra. Would you enjoy living in my houseboat, in the ultimate central Amsterdam location, opposite the Noorderkerk marketplace at the heart of the popular Jordaan neighborhood? I'll be away several months in Shanghai, China.

The boat is 14.7 meters by 5 meters. The interior is one big wide studio apartment, with bed room area, living room, gas log fireplace, large shower, kitchen, microwave-oven, TV, video, cable and internet connections, washer/dryer, big mirror over the bed, 5 large windows giving enjoyable views of the canal activity. recently all renovated. I'll upload soon some new interior photos. On the rooftop is a large garden area. Sitting here (when the weather is good) is a very pleasant experience.

The boat rents for 2,000 Euros a week.

About the Jordaan district - many people consider it the very best part of old Amsterdam. (I do; that's why I chose to live here.) The Jordaan is packed with friendly neighborhood cafes and picturesque small shops selling all sorts of antiques, clothes, toys, artwork, gimcracks.

Saturday and Monday are the big market days, selling foods, clothes, antiques, general merchandise. Adding to the fun are the songs of Peruvian and/or Yugoslavian street musicians and the laughter of small children in the playground. If the sun is out let's grab an outdoor cafe table! Dutch coffee is indeed excellent, as is the apple pie (with Slagroom - whipped cream!)

If one wants more serious shopping, three canals over is the head of Nieeuwendijk/Kalver Street - THE midpriced market street - a pedestrian-only mall. Near 1A Prinsengracht there is also a shopping area for local residents, with everything I need - the post office, an Albert Heijn supermarket branch, video stores, coffee shops and restaurants.

Ten minutes walk from the boat is the Central Station, where the major bus, tram, train and metro lines all converge. Very convenient.

Well, why not contact me and let's talk about possible dates for you to visit. My phone number - 316 232 99 459 (from outside Holland) 06 232 99 459 (from inside Holland). Or email to

View looking north on Prinsengracht, from the rooftop garden of the boat at 1A Prinsengracht. On market days there is a colorful stream of people crossing the Prinsengracht- Brouwersgracht bridge, on their way to the market. By the time you move in, the tulips and daffodils should be coming up...
Side view of 1A Prinsengracht, showing the 5 large windows, that give you a great view of boat activity on the canal.
