The Final-forms FAQ Page

Made by one of, if not THE greatest trainers in history.
-Brian Landry, a.k.a. striker64 or Umbreon of the Night or not Brian or striker64c. He has been a master since the early days of Pokmon yellow, and his great span of play has been traced to this: February 16, 2000 - June 18, 2001. Only 25 days after typing up this magnificent piece of information, he left the boards of GameFAQs forever. Farewell, Master Striker, this is in your memory.

#003 Venusaur:
- Safeguard
- Giga Drain
- Body Slam/Rock HP
- Leech Seed/Sleep Powder
@Miracle Berry/Leftovers/Quick Claw
This is a fairly effective starter. Safeguard is always nice for those parafusioners that like to come out early on. Giga Drain is for STAB. Rock HP is a counter to Venusaurs 3 main weaknesses: Fire, Flying, and Ice. Leech Seed and Sleep Powder are equally effective... if Sleep Clause is on, Leech Seed might be the better choice. Note: Safeguard and body slam can't be in the same m-set.

#006 Charizard:
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Wing Attack/Reflect
- Earthquake
@Charcoal
This is an excellent Charizard. Sunny Day and Charcoal power up Fire Blast. In addition, Sunny Day gives Thunder 50% accuracy, and weakens Water attacks. Earthquake is a quality move that covers Charizards weakness to both Rock and Electric. Reflect will not help much to defend against a Rock attack, however, because of Charizards 4x weakness to the attacks. It can defend against other physical attacks, but I still think a good STAB-Wing Attack would be more useful.

#009 Blastoise:
- Haze/Roar
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Swagger/Earthquake
@Miracle Berry/Leftovers/Quick Claw/Bright Powder
Blastoise is an excellent Hazer. Haze and Roar accomplish the same purposes; if you were to use this Blastoise in a Spikes team, Roar would be the choice. Ice Beam covers the Grass weakness. Swagger can buy Blastoise some time and up its staying power very much, and works well considering Blastoises Defense of 278.

#012 Butterfree:
- Reflect
- Nightmare
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
@Bright Powder/Leftovers
Unfortunately, Butterfree cant get a trapping move to ensure the opponent doesnt switch out to get rid of Nightmare, but its still a very good choice. Reflect is good for pseudo-passing. Giga Drain can give Butterfree the edge against Rock/Ground types.

#015 Beedrill:
- Return
- Agility
- Swords Dance
- Twineedle
@Bright Powder
Beedrill is one of those guys who would be great if it had the staying power to get completely setup. The Bright Powder is at least a small boost to help.

#018 Pidgeot:
- Agility
- Steel Wing
- Wing Attack
- Double-Edge
@Miracle Berry/Bright Powder/Scope Lens
Pretty self-explanatory. Steel Wing is for Rock and Ice types, and WA and DE are for STAB.

#020 Raticate:
- Return
- Super Fang
- Mud-Slap
- Bubblebeam
@Mystic Water/Scope Lens
Super Fang just plain rules, so he gets it. Return has a whopping 153 base after STAB, which is higher than a non-STAB Hyper Beam!... and no recharge!... and you get a max of 32 of them!... Anyway, Rain Dance/Bubblebeam is for pesky Rock types (ESPECIALLY Tyranitar and Rhydon) that wont take the damage from Return.

#022 Fearow:
- Return
- Drill Peck
- Mirror Move
- Steel Wing
@Bright Powder/Scope Lens
This is basically the same basis as Pidgeot. The difference here is that Fearow has slightly better staying power and would benefit more from more Returns as opposed to stronger Double-Edges. Mirror Move is basically a filler and could come in handy.

#024 Arbok:
- Glare
- Swagger/Haze
- Sludge Bomb
- Earthquake
@Leftovers/Soft Sand
Parafusion is great. If you need Haze, go for it instead. Earthquake is a quality move, and anything that can get it should have it.

#026 Raichu:
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Light Screen
- Thunder Wave
@Mystic Water/Bright Powder
Nothing special here, youve all seen this before...

#028 Sandslash:
- Curse
- Mud-Slap
- Safeguard
- Earthquake
@Soft Sand/Quick Claw/Leftovers
This probably looks a little strange. This is an excellent lead Sandslash; it is quite effective. Safeguard is good to pass to foil parafusioners. Mud-Slap can get rid of something that could potentially be harmful to Sandslash.

#031 Nidoqueen:
- Earthquake
- Shadow Ball
- Rain Dance/Reflect
- Thunder/bolt
@Magnet/Scope Lens
Attacker.

#034 Nidoking:
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
@Charcoal
Attacker.

#036 Clefable:
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
- Moonlight
@Charcoal/Scope Lens
The standard we all know and love.

#038 Ninetales:
- Reflect
- Confuse Ray
- Sunny Day
- Flamethrower
@Charcoal
Quickly becoming the standard...

#040 Wigglytuff:
- Rest
- Curse
- Double-Edge
- Shadow Ball
@Leftovers
I took Ultimas set, banged it with a hammer, threw it in a washing machine, and got this out. Wigglytuff NEEDS the extra defense.

#045 Vileplume:
- Stun Spore
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Moonlight
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
My personal standard Vileplume, self-explanatory.

#047 Parasect:
- Spore/Stun Spore
- Leech Life
- Swords Dance
- Return
@Bright Powder
This is a variation of a chromatics standard with Return over the older idea of Substitute. An Agility or 2 would be great for some setup.

#049 Venomoth:
- Stun Spore
- Bug HP/Psychic
- Reflect
- Sludge Bomb
@Scope Lens/Kings Rock
Again, self-explanatory.

#051 Dugtrio:
- Mud-Slap
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
- Sludge Bomb
@Bright Powder
Sludge Bomb is for Grasses. Mud-Slap + Bright Powder can lead to a certain degree of mischief.

#053 Persian:
- Return
- Screech
- Charm
- Bubblebeam
@Mystic Water
This follows exactly the same idea as Raticate.

#055 Golduck:
- Surf
- Return/Rest/Cross Chop
- Ice Beam
- Light Screen
@Bright Powder/Mint Berry
Fairly standard. Return would be quite strong, but a good Minty Rest is always nice. The version with Cross chop is the Ryogolduck.

#055 Golduck (Alternate):
- Amnesia
- Counter
- Ice beam
- Surf/Psych Up
@Leftovers/Bright Powder
A weird twist on the average golduck. Surf is for STAB, but what are the rest for, you may ask... well, counter is for anything that hits physically when they see golduck's amnesia. Ice beam counters grasses, and since the most used electric is zapdos, that too. Psych up might be handy in place of surf to take care of cursers w/counter.

#057 Primeape:
- Return
- Screech
- Counter
- Cross Chop
@Focus Band/Black Belt
Standard, to an extent. I put Counter + Focus Band for Flyers.

#059 Arcanine:
- Fire Blast
- Curse
- ExtremeSpeed
- Roar/Safeguard
@Charcoal
Standard Arcanine #2, and the better of the 2 IMO.

#059 Arcanine: (Alternate)
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day/Reflect/Safeguard
- Return
- Crunch
@Leftover An OK set, IMO. It's the Frakanine.

#062 Poliwrath:
- Whirlpool
- Mind Reader
- Dynamic Punch/Fissure
- Swagger
@Leftovers/Bright Powder
The ugly trapper standard.

#065 Alakazam:
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Ice/Fire/Thunder Punch/Reflect
- Recover
@Bright Powder/Nevermeltice/Charcoal/Magnet
The added element punch would simply give Alakazam more of an edge against other types. Of, if you want to, play it safe with Reflect.

#068 Machamp:
- Counter/Curse
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
@Miracle Berry
Counter is great for Flyers. Machamp can survive a Lugias Aeroblast and knock it back at the beast and make it faint just like that. Why Miracle Berry? Lately, people have started to think its funny to Swagger Machamp. Not anymore.

#071 Victreebel:
- Stun Spore
- Swagger
- Encore
- Giga Drain
@Leftovers
This is a set a picked up from my excursions at TPM. Its quite effective, and tends to be more useful than a Jumpluff with the same/similar set, since Victreebel has better staying power.

#073 Tentacruel:
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Mirror Coat
- Reflect/Haze
@Leftovers/Bright Powder
Self-explanatory. Tentacruel was one that benefited from the Special-split, gaining a good SpDef, but not too good to where Mirror Coat wont knock the crap out of any SpAtk-er.

#076 Golem:
- Curse/Substitute
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Explosion
@Quick Claw
Self-explanatory, VERY useful.

#078 Rapidash:
- Reflect
- Return/Body Slam
- Sunny Day
- Fire Blast
@Charcoal
Rapidashs Defense leaves some to be desired, so Reflect goes well here. Sunny Day not also powers up Fire Blast, but also nicely compliments Rapidashs Speed in that if a Water comes out, you will almost always be able to pull of that Sunny Day first. Return/Body Slam takes advantage of its respectable Attack rating.

#080 Slowbro:
- Surf
- Amnesia/Thunder Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Rest
@Leftovers
Slowking lacks in Defense, whereas Slowbro lacks in SpDef. This is a variation of the Tobybro.

#082 Magneton (1):
- HP Water
- Rain Dance
- Thunder
- Thunder Wave
@Mystic Water/Magnet
Rain Dance makes Thunder 99.6% accurate with no effect from accuracy reducers, powers up HP Water, AND reduces Magnetons ridiculous weakness to Fire attacks. My moveset of choice.

#082 Magneton (2):
- Swagger
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Reflect/Steel HP
@Bright Powder/Metal Coat
Parafusion/pseudo-pass Magneton.

#083 Farfetchd: - Agility
- Return
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
@Bright Powder/Stick
BP Farfetchd. Return is for STAB.

#085 Dodrio:
- Reflect
- Drill Peck
- Steel Wing/Tri Attack
- Whirlwind/Haze
@Bright Powder/Leftovers
Fairly standard Dodrio, considering there isnt much else one can do with it.

#087 Dewgong:
- Encore
- Perish Song
- WhirlPool
- Rest
@Mint Berry
This was changed to skinnydud's moveset due to the fact that Dewgong can't learn belly drum. It's a p-song m-set. Etc.

#089 Muk:
- Sludge Bomb
- Swagger
- Screech
- Body Slam
@Quick Claw
Fairly standard.

#089 Muk: (Alternate)
- Sludge Bomb
- Acid Armor
- Haze
- Fire Blast/Punch
This set is pretty much what should be used. It works.
#091 Cloyster:
- Spikes
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Swagger
@Miracle Berry
This is an excellent lead for a STS team if you dont like Forretress.

#094 Gengar:
- Psychic
- Confuse Ray
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt/Haze
@Twisted Spoon/Scope Lens/Bright Powder
Self-explanatory.

#097 Hypno:
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Reflect
- Swagger/Tri Attack/Shadow Ball
@Leftovers/Scope Lens
Self-explanatory.

#099 Kingler:
- Surf
- Return/Body Slam
- Swords Dance
- Mud-Slap
@Quick Claw/Bright Powder
I realize that Kinglers SpAtk is not great. However, if youre up against a Rock/Ground type, it will do good damage considering their low SpDef. Crabhammer is too chancy, seeing how its accuracy is lower, less PP, and the CH rate dropped. Mud-Slap is good for Electrics (a full SDed Mud-Slap can do some damage... right?).

#101 Electrode:
- Thunder Wave
- Swagger
- Reflect/Light Screen
- Explosion
@Berserk Gene
This is a moveset that I believe Mega Mana liked. At any rate, I like it. Reflect protects against the enemys raised Attack. After the Berserk Genes Attack boost, Explosion can work wonders.

#101 Electrode: (Alternate)
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute
- Swagger
- Headbutt
@Leftovers Don't knock it till you've tried it. This swept 6-0 twice, and gave me a 4-0 lead all by itself, also. Just be sure that you bring a quick hazer to clean up after it if you use it.

#103 Exeggutor:
- Psychic
- Solar Beam
- Sunny Day
- Moonlight
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
I got this moveset from Uiru. If youre leading with it, go with Quick Claw.

#105 Marowak:
- Rest
- Sleeptalk
- Ancient Power
- Earthquake
@Thick Club
Rest and Sleeptalk are fillers. Marowak will probably not wake up from that first Rest, but I figure that Sleeptalk will allow it to possibly get off one last Earthquake/Ancient Power before it falls.

#106 Hitmonlee/#107 Hitmonchan:
- Curse
- Mach Punch
- HP Ghost
- Body Slam
@Black Belt
Self-explanatory.

#108 Lickitung:
- Curse
- Substitute
- Body Slam/Return
- Earthquake
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
Substitute is great for weaker Pokmon with high HP, like Lickitung.

#110 Weezing:
- Haze
- Sludge Bomb
- Thunderbolt
- Destiny Bond
@Magnet/Poison Barb
I recommend Destiny Bond instead of Explosion since DB will kill no matter what.

#112 Rhydon:
- Rest
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
@Quick Claw
The old R/B/Y standard is still great.

#114 Tangela:
- Growth
- Amnesia
- Stun Spore
- Giga Drain
@Leftovers/Mystery Berry
The Special split, unfortunately, worsened Tangela. She got stuck with a lower SpDef, so Amnesia is necessary to boost it back up.

#115 Kangaskhan:
- Rest
- Return/Curse
- Shadow Ball
- Earthquake
@Mint Berry
Standard attacking Kangaskhan.

#119 Seaking:
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Agility/Haze
- Return/Rain Dance
@Scope Lens
Self-explanatory. You wont want to have both Agility and Haze.

#121 Starmie:
- Surf
- Confuse Ray
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
@Kings Rock
There is nothing better than the Death Star.

#122 Mr. Mime:
- Thunder Wave
- Swagger
- Barrier/Substitute
- Baton Pass
@Miracle Berry
PM used this against me as his lead, and I was amazed by how effective it really was. Give it a try.

#124 Jynx (1):
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Mean Look
- Lovely Kiss
@Leftovers
Deranged led with this against me and successfully took down 2 of my Pokmon and weakened a third.

#124 Jynx (2):
- Reflect
- Mean Look
- Perish Song
- Lovely Kiss
@Leftovers
Standard Perish-Trapper, and its the best IMO.

#125 Electabuzz:
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Punch
- Reflect
@Bright Powder/Scope Lens
Self-explanatory.

#126 Magmar:
- Reflect
- Confuse Ray
- Fire Blast
- Thunder Punch
@Charcoal
My Magmar of choice.

#127 Pinsir:
- Return
- Swords Dance
- HP Bug
- Submission
@Quick Claw
Attacking Pinsir.

#128 Tauros:
- Curse
- Swagger
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
@Leftovers/Bright Powder
I think that Tauros benefits more from very high Attack/high Defense/low Speed more so than the high Attack/low Defense/high Speed we all know and love from R/B/Y.

#130 Gyarados:
- Surf
- Rain Dance
- Swagger
- Body slam
@Mystic Water
Gyarados was reduced to rubble with the introduction of G/S. This is all it can do.

#131 Lapras (1):
- Whirlpool
- Perish Song
- Confuse Ray
- Protect
@Leftovers
Standard Perish Trapper.

#131 Lapras (2):
- Rest/Safeguard
- Confuse Ray
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
Very reliable attacker.

#132 Ditto:
- Transform
@Metal Powder
I know I said Id stay away from standards, but...

#134 Vaporeon:
- Rest
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Haze/Roar
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
This is the R/B/Y standard made even better with an item.

#135 Jolteon:
- Rest/Bite
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- HP Grass
@Kings Rock
Attacking Jolteon.

#136 Flareon:
- Curse
- Return
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
@Quick Claw
Attacking Flareon.

#139 Omastar:
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Ancient Power
- Protect/Swagger
@Quick Claw
Attacking Omastar.

#141 Kabutops:
- Surf
- Swords Dance
- Ancient Power
- Return/Body Slam
@Quick Claw
Attacking Kabutops. (Am I the only one getting tired of that?...)

#142 Aerodactyl:
- Wing Attack
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
- Reflect/Substitute/Swagger
@Kings Rock/Soft Sand
Universally accepted, and effective, Aerodactyl.

#143 Snorlax:
- Curse
- Rest
- Double-Edge
- Shadow Ball/Earthquake
@Leftovers
Standard Curselax we have all come to know and hate.

#144 Articuno:
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance
- Bubblebeam
- Reflect
@Mystic Water
Rain Dance reduced Articunos weakness to Fire attacks, and, with Bubblebeam + Mystic Water, can easily fend off Rock types.

#145 Zapdos:
- Drill Peck
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- HP Grass/Water
@Mystic Seed/Mystic Water
A moveset which is fast becoming standard for ANY Electric type (with a corresponding type move in place of Drill Peck.

#146 Moltres:
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Reflect
- Whirlwind/Steel Wing
@Charcoal
A Moltress Sunny Dayed Fire Blast @Charcoal is ~the~ strongest element attack in the game. Reflect downplays Moltress low Defense. Moltres is a great pseudo-Hazer with Whirlwind, but if youre more intimidated by Rock types, go with Steel Wing.

#149 Dragonite:
- Curse
- ExtremeSpeed
- Ice Beam
- Roar/Light Screen/Steel Wing
@Leftovers
ExtremeSpeed ignores the Speed drop from Curse, and Ice Beam takes care of Rock and Steel types. You dont want Haze on here, because youll lose your Cursing.

#150 Mewtwo:
- Psychic/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt
- Safeguard
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
@Miracle Berry
Standard opening Mewtwo.

#151 Mew (1):
- Swords Dance
- Submission/Earthquake
- Shadow Ball
- Softboiled
@Spell Tag/Black Belt/Soft Sand/Leftovers
Very powerful attacking Mew.

#151 Mew (2):
- Thunder Wave
- Earthquake
- Giga Drain
- Shadow Ball
@Leftovers/Miracle Berry
Very effective opening Mew. Thunder Wave begins an inevitable paralysis line, Earthquake takes care of Electrics, Giga Drain takes care of Quagsires, and Shadow Ball takes care of Psychics.

#151 Mew (3):
- RoarB
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
- Rest
@Mint Berry
A moveset I came up with in my spare time. Useful? Probably not.

#151 Mew (4):
- Whirlpool
- Sweet Scent
- Horn Drill
- Softboiled
@Leftovers/Bright Powder
I love this Mew set, cheap as it is. Trap the enemy, Sweet Scent 5 or so times, and Horn Drill it. Heal when you need.

#151 Mew (5):
- Whirlpool
- Sweet Scent
- Zap Cannon/Blizzard
- Softboiled/Rest
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
This is the same idea as the above Mew, but this moveset can fill in an element you may be missing, and requires fewer Sweet Scents.

#154 Meganium:
- Safeguard
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
- Giga Drain
@Quick Claw/Miracle Berry
Very reliable attacker, covering many grounds, and setting up Safeguard for other team members.

#157 Typhlosion:
- Sunny Day
- Fire Blast
- Thunder Punch
- Earthquake
@Charcoal
Standard attacking Typhlosion, because there isnt much else you can do with it...

#160 Feraligatr:
- Surf
- Swagger
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
@Mystery Berry/Miracle Berry
I realize that Surf + Earthquake is a little redundant, but one covers STAB (with his fairly good SpAtk), and the other covers weaknesses. The Mystery Berry is good for getting back those 8 Ancient Powers after youve used them up... youll get another chance to get the stat boost, or if youve already gotten it, you could get it again.

#162 Furret:
- Rest
- Curse
- Amnesia/Shadow Ball
- Double-Edge
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
With Furrets high HP, raising its Attack and Defense could lead to a new tank.

#164 Noctowl:
- Return
- Reflect
- Wing Attack
- Steel Wing
@Leftovers/Sharp Beak
Standard attacking Noctowl.

#166 Ledian:
- Safeguard
- Agility
- Light Screen/Reflect
- Baton Pass
@Bright Powder
Support Ledian, because she just cant attack.

#168 Ariados:
- Agility
- Spider Web
- Baton Pass
- Sludge Bomb
@Bright Powder/Scope Lens/Poison Barb
Support Ariados, although much better than the above Ledian.

#169 Crobat:
- Return/Headbutt
- Wing Attack
- Confuse Ray
- Haze/Whirlwind
@Leftovers
Headbutt can give you an extra chance of flinch since Crobat is so fast, but IMO, Crobat will just benefit more from the more powerful Return.

#171 Lanturn:
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Confuse Ray
@Kings Rock
I love this guy. ^^; Annoying-as-heck opening Lanturn.

#176 Togetic:
- Charm
- Safeguard
- Encore/Swagger
- Mirror Move/Return/Double-Edge
@Bright Powder
Togetic is so awful that there isnt much else you can do but to make it some sort of support Pokmon, and even then it isnt that great.

#178 Xatu:
- Psychic
- Drill Peck
- Confuse Ray
- Haze/Whirlwind
@Bright Powder
Standard Xatu.

#181 Ampharos:
- Reflect
- Fire Punch
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
@Leftovers
Fairly standard Ampharos.

#182 Bellossom:
- Return
- Stun Spore
- Giga Drain
- Moonlight
@Leftovers
She kicks all butt with this moveset. ^^;

#184 Azumarril:
- Surf
- Icy Wind
- Future Sight
- Rain Dance
@Leftovers/Mystic Water
Azumarril has stats similar to Togetics, but the moveset variety allows it to be much more versatile. Icy Wind can give Azumarril the speed advantage, and Future Sight is good for Pokmon that will take numerous hits to go down.

#185 Sudowoodo:
- Swagger
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Self-destruct
@Quick Claw
Attacking Sudowoodo.

#186 Politoed:
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Swagger/Protect
- Earthquake
@Quick Claw/Nevermeltice
Attacking Politoed.

#189 Jumpluff:
- Stun Spore
- Swagger
- Leech Seed
- Protect
@Leftovers
All hail Rockys annoying Jumpluff!

#190 Aipom:
- Rest
- Curse
- Counter
- Return
@Mint Berry
PM used this against me and successfully took down my Dragonite and weakened numerous others. Its very useful if you have the knowledge, and patience, to use it.

#192 Sunflora:
- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
- Synthesis
- Swagger/Protect/HP Fire
@Quick Claw/Charcoal
The Sunny Day/Solar Beam combo tends to be discouraged on Grasses, but Sunflora is just so incredibly awful (lowest total stats for all evolved Pokmon in the game) that it really needs the one-shot Solar Beam and full heal Synthesis.

#193 Yanma:
- Swagger
- Screech
- Bug HP
- Wing Attack
@Sharp Beak
Underused Yanma is actually not that bad of an attacker.

#195 Quagsire:
- Roar/Curse
- Swagger/Sludge Bomb
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
@Quick Claw
My own devious invention of an attacking Quagsire. ^^;

#196 Espeon:
- Bite
- Psychic
- Reflect
- Morning Sun
@Leftovers
Standard Espeon.

#197 Umbreon (1):
- Rest
- Curse
- Confuse Ray
- Shadow Ball/Body Slam/Double-Edge
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
Standard Cursing Umbreon.

#197 Umbreon (2):
- Rest/Moonlight
- Toxic
- Confuse Ray
- Mean Look
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
The very effective Umbreon standard established from almost day 1 of the Japanese release.

#198 Murkrow:
- Psych Up
- Drill Peck
- Shadow Ball
- Whirlwind
@Leftovers
Youll want Whirlwind instead of Haze so that you dont lose what you got from Psych Up.

#199 Slowking:
- Surf/Headbutt
- Swagger
- Protect/Attract
- Thunder Wave
@Leftovers
Confatuated Paraflinch leaves the enemy with only approximately a 7% chance to attack. The problem is, half the time you wont be able to use Attract, and the other half the time the enemy will be able to attack. That boils down to only a 25% reliability from Attract. In contrast, Protect always works every other turn, which even if they do break through the parafusion, they still miss.

#200 Misdreavus:
- Protect/Pain Split
- Mean Look
- Perish Song
- Confuse Ray
@Leftovers
Standard Perish Trapping Misdreavus, and the 2nd best IMO.

#202 Wobbuffet:
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Safeguard
- Destiny Bond
@Miracle Berry
Um, standard, because you literally cannot do anything else with it.

#203 Girafarig:
- Return/Agility/Amnesia
- Earthquake
- Agility/Amnesia
- Baton Pass
@Bright Powder/Leftovers
Ive always liked a nice mix of an attack/support Girafarig. Some prefer a little more of one or the other, it really depends on the situation. Earthquake covers everything Psychic can (minus Fighting) and more, and do it better.

#205 Forretress:
- Spikes
- Swagger
- Sandstorm/Protect
- Explosion
@Miracle Berry
Standard opening Forretress, although Im beginning to think that its just too vulnerable to do much of anything.

#206 Dunsparce:
- Glare
- Swagger
- Psych Up
- Headbutt
@Leftovers
The only thing thats any good about Dunsparce is the fact that it has 400+ HP, and it learns Glare. Swagger makes parafusion, and Psych Up adds to its awful Attack. Now, Headbutt gives STAB, and also can cause the opponent to flinch. This means the enemy has to break through confusion (50%), paralysis (25%), and flinch (30%). This means that your opponent has approximately a 25% chance to attack.

#207 Gligar:
- Curse
- Swagger
- Earthquake
- Wing Attack
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
This, of course, is a Stadium 2 influenced Gligar. Earthquake and Wing Attack act on STAB, and Curse + Swagger is a common, and effective, combo.

#208 Steelix:
- Curse
- Swagger/Explosion
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
Standard attacking Steelix.

#210 Granbull:
- Return
- Reflect/Curse
- Heal Bell
- Shadow Ball
@Miracle Berry/Quick Claw/Leftovers
Fairly standard Granbull.

#211 Qwilfish:
- Surf
- Haze
- Spikes
- Sludge Bomb
@Miracle Berry
STAB and support all in one nice, weak package. Stay with Cloyster or Forretress.

#212 Scizor (1):
- Rest
- Agility
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
@Mint Berry
This is a devious little Scizor that I came up with after I got the idea of Minty Resting Baton Passers from Phildo. You may need the full heal to finish BPing once, or to do it again.

#212 Scizor (2):
- Agility
- Return/Swagger
- Steel Wing
- HP Bug/Swords Dance
@Bright Powder
Attacking Scizor.

#213 Shuckle:
- Rest
- Swagger
- Encore/Protect
- Safeguard
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
Im slowly beginning to realize just how limited Shuckle really is. After 2 Swaggers to ANYTHING that attacks, they can easily waste about half of Shuckles HP. Sure, its Defense is 558, but its HP is also only 243. Shuckle is nothing more than an annoyer and a supporter, but still, very limited.

#214 Heracross:
- Return/Counter
- Earthquake
- Reversal
- Mega Horn
@Focus Band
You used to see Heracross all the time. Then, people began to realize that you are essentially limited to Earthquake/Mega Horn/Reversal, and, for lack of anything else, Endure. Dont get me wrong; Heracross is very good. However, Earthquake/Mega Horn/Reversal still means that you are dead to flyers. With the Focus Band and Counter, you can possibly survive and strike back for the kill. Or, you can try a strong Return.

#215 Sneasel:
- Reflect
- Return
- Shadow Ball
- Ice Beam
@Nevermeltice
Because of its many weaknesses, Sneasel gets a lot of criticism. Reflect at least tones down physical attacks (although it would still be dead to a Machamps Cross Chop) and is good for pseudo-passing. I realize that Sneasels SpAtk is a mere 178, but it will get STAB for Ice Beam, and with all those Dragonite running around, it may not be a bad idea.

#217 Ursaring:
- Rest
- Curse
- Return
- Earthquake
@Leftovers
Right around when the game came out, I encountered a cute little teddy bear. I caught it, trained it, and it wasnt a cute teddy bear no more. Now, it was an ugly, big, powerful momma bear. This monster of a Pokmon is limited only by its awful Speed.

#219 Magcargo:
- Curse
- Rock Slide
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
@Quick Claw/Charcoal
Well... what else can you do with this piece of crap? It probably cant survive the setup.

#221 Piloswine:
- Swagger
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Body Slam
@Quick Claw
Body Slam is for a chance of parafusion, everything else is self-explanatory.

#222 Corsola (1):
- Rest
- Curse
- Amnesia
- Ancient Power
@Leftovers/Mint Berry/Mystery Berry
This was developed by a TPMer some time ago, and I kind of like it. Kind of. If you are lucky enough to survive the setup, this thing is a monster. Kind of.

#222 Corsola (2):
- Surf
- Mirror Coat
- Ancient Power
- Recover
@Leftovers
Standard Corsola, covers STAB and a counter for Electrics.

#224 Octillery:
- Haze
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Return
@Quick Claw
Some debate that Psybeam should be over Return. I disagree. Octillerys Attack is as high as its SpAtk, and Return is more powerful anyway.

#225 Delibird:
- Fly/Swagger
- Ice Beam
- Steel Wing
- Future Sight
@Bright Powder/Leftovers
I discovered something while playing Challenge Cup in Stadium 2: Delibird is variable, and can dish it out quite well, but cant take a hit for crap.

#226 Maintine:
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Confuse Ray
- Rain Dance/Haze/Wing Attack
@Quick Claw
The much-debated Maintine deserves something with that 358 SpDef *drool*... I just dont know what.

#227 Skarmory:
- Agility
- Swagger/Return
- Drill Peck
- Steel Wing
@Sharp Beak/Scope Lens
Skarmory is perhaps the most overlooked Pokmon in the game. I love the Steel winged creature. Boost its Speed with Agility, and now you have a fast, hella strong attacker. What more could you want?

#229 Houndoom:
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
@Charcoal
The standard we all love to hate.

#230 Kingdra:
- Surf
- Dragon Breath
- Return/Ice Beam
- Rest
@Mint Berry
The standard we all love but hate to battle against.

#232 Donphan:
- Curse
- Swagger
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
@Mystery Berry/Quick Claw
I prefer Ancient Power over Rock Slide since it is more accurate and has a chance for that all-stat rise.

#233 Porygon2 (1):
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Agility/Thunder Wave
- Recover
@Leftovers
The Agility/Thunder Wave debate ultimately comes down to this: do you need an attacker that will go first each turn or one that can setup for later team members?

#233 Porygon2 (2):
- Curse
- Double-Edge
- Ice Beam
- Recover
@Leftovers/Quick Claw
A variant of the standard attacker.

#234 Stantler:
- Return
- Earthquake
- Light Screen
- Confuse Ray
@Soft Sand/Leftovers
Most of the attacks that youll be hit with are Special based, so Light Screen is all the better.

#235 Smeargle (1):
- Recover
- Spore
- Nightmare
- Seismic Toss
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
With an Agility or 2 BPed to it, this Smeargle is a Nightmare (ha, ha) to kill.

#235 Smeargle (2):
- Spore
- Mean Look
- Lock On
- Horn Drill
@Leftovers
If you BP Smeargle a lot of defense, and a lot of Speed, this thing rocks. If not, well... sorry.

#235 Smeargle (3):
- Spore
- Confuse Ray
- Mean Look
- Baton Pass
@Bright Powder
Annoying support Smeargle that still requires some sort of pre-requisite Speed boost.

#237 Hitmontop:
- Curse
- Mach Punch
- Return
- HP Ghost
@ Black Belt
Curse lowers Speed, and Mach Punch lets you always attack first. Good deal. HP Ghost deals with Psychics and Ghosts.

#241 Miltank:
- Body Slam
- Earthquake/Swagger/Shadow Ball
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
@Miracle Berry
Standard Miltank.

#242 Blissey (1):
- Counter
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
@Leftovers
This was quickly established as the standard Blissey, until we discovered...

#242 Blissey (2):
- Rest
- Curse
- Return/Double-Edge
- Heal Bell
@Leftovers
... that Blissey can Heal Bell. Yay. New standard.

#243 Raikou:
- Reflect
- Crunch
- Thunderbolt
- Psych Up/Swagger/Roar/Protect
@Leftovers/Magnet
Fairly standard Raikou, its unfortunate that it cant get Thunder Wave.

#244 Entei:
- Return/Swagger
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
@Charcoal
Standard Entei, because, like the other Legendary Beasts, it is pretty limited.

#245 Suicune:
- Rest
- Surf
- Mirror Coat
- Rain Dance
@Leftovers
My own devious creation which is both strong and a pain to defeat.

#248 Tyranitar:
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
- Fire Blast/Thunder Punch
@Mystery Berry/Quick Claw
Again, I like Ancient Power better because Tyranitar goes on a major rampage with the all-stat boost. If you think youll encounter some Grasses, go with Fire Blast. If you think youll have trouble with Waters, go with Thunder Punch.

#249 Lugia:
- Aeroblast
- Ice Beam
- Safeguard
- Recover
@Miracle Berry
Haste2 used this Lugia as an opener against me and successfully swept 4 of my team members before I finally took it down. He even BPed an Agility and a Swords Dance to it from a Scizor... bad things happened.

#250 Ho-oh (1):
- Fire Blast/Sacred Fire
- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
- Recover
@Charcoal
The standard Ho-oh established from its discovery on day 1.

#250 Ho-oh (2):
- Sacred Fire
- Earthquake
- Safeguard
- Recover
@Miracle Berry
Others, myself included, prefer to take advantage both of Ho-ohs incredible Attack and SpAtk. Once again, Earthquake is a quality move. There is no better physical attack to put on it. Safeguard + Miracle Berry keeps Ho-oh happy and healthy.

#251 Celebi:
- Psychic
- Safeguard/Leech Seed/Giga Drain
- Heal Bell
- Recover
@Miracle Berry/Leftovers/Scope Lens
Our very own standard Celebi.
