and all fencers will be tracked regardless of their Section
Alignment but only members of RMS are eligible to win the cup.
There are three categories in each weapon: (1) Men; (2) Women (3)
Junior Men's (4) Junior Women's. The Section Circuit champion will
receive free tournament registrations and fees for all Circuit
events for the following season.
Points will be awarded in the Circuit Cup as follows:
-
1st Place = 64 points
-
2nd Place = 48 points
-
3rd - 4th Place = 32 points
-
5th - 8th Place = 16 points
-
9th - 16th Place = 8 points
-
17th - 32nd Place = 4 points
-
33rd - 64th Place = 2 points
Fencers will keep only receive
points for their top 4 results to determine the Section Cup
winner.
The Section Cup will start in May each year, after Sectionals has
occurred and end at the following year's Sectionals.
The Rocky Mountain Section Circuit Cup is a collective effort of
the member Divisions of the Rocky Mountain Section of the USFA.
Its purpose is to promote increased participation among all levels
of fencers in tournaments outside their home Divisions, to provide
elite athletes with serious fencing at Regional competitions, to
increase the size and strength of tournaments throughout the
Section, to better prepare fencers for competition on the National
level, and to promote fencing in general across the Section.
Tournaments will be announced by the Circuit Committee at the
Sectional meeting each year but are subject to change during the
season by the committee if and when needed.
Section Circuit Committee will be appointed by the Chair of the
Rocky Mountain Section each year and will consist of at least
three people to oversee the Circuit, track it and make
modifications as needed during the season. All information about
the Section Circuit will be posted on the Section Web-site and/or
the Section Discussion board.
It is the responsibility of each fencer to monitor his or her
points and make sure they are correct.
The tournaments in the Cup will be:
-
Phoenix Cup (AZ division)
-
Crown of Texas (Plains TX division)
-
New Mexico Open (NM Division)
-
Nick Toth Open (CO Division)
-
Falcon Open (Co Division)
-
Icicle Invitational (NE/South D.
Division)
-
Sectional Championship (Section
event)
Only events that are of
proven of high quality are eligible to be considered as part of
our circuit. There is a big difference between a well run division
event and an event that should be considered for the Section
Circuit. Some areas may be allowed to hold more than one circuit
event if the additional events is deemed to be at a high enough
level and the committee approves the addition of the event to the
schedule. To be considered for a Circuit Cup, selected
competitions must have at least one FOC present, plenty of
referees, and must be very well run and organized. Tournament
organizers that wish their events to be considered must present a
written proposal to the Committee chair at least 2 weeks prior to
the Sectional Meeting each year or they will NOT be considered.
The committee will review the previous year's circuit competitions
and renew them each season unless the committee determines that a
change is warranted. The Circuit will never exceed 8 events.
In the event that a Section Circuit Competition does NOT have
separate men's and women's events the committee will post how the
points will be determined before the registrations for the event
are accepted and this determination shall be posted on the Section
web site.
There will be an area on the Section Discussion board to discuss
the events and info:
