The Call of the race:

MARIAH’S SONG breaks clean and gains the lead off the gate, joined quickly by A.P. Mambo and who is already pushing her. Next comes Silk Pajamas, Dubai Lady, Babcia, Lei, Cathedral, Cozzina On Stage, and Golden Actress with a nose to nose Reine Charmante. Coming into the first turn A.P Mambo has taken over the lead with Dubai Lady at her shoulder. Mariah’s Song has been forced back to third for a fight with Silk Pajamas but is holding. Lei is pressing the pace and inching up. Cathedral is making her move on the outside, moving fast in the backstretch. Babcia is following her stride for stride and not letting Cathedral get back in tight. Golden Actress has faded to the back of the pack and is running with Cozzina On Stage; Reine Charmante is trailing the field. In the final furlong it’s AP Mambo all the way as she finds another gear and puts daylight between her and a determined Dubai Lady who has overcome a slightly tired Mariah’s Song. Babcia is holding on to a strong forth, Silk Pajamas is trying to close up the gap followed by a fading Lei. Cathedral is out of it now followed by Cozzina On Stage, Reine Charmante and Golden Actress who bobbled in the backstretch and was eased. At the finish, it’s A.P. Mambo, Bred By The Royal Stud, to win the first MTRA KENTUCKY OAKS!

She almost lost it around the first turn and had to fight hard against a determined Dubai Lady in the back stretch. Securing the lead again as they turned for home, AP found another gear and cruised home with daylight.

2^nd [nose] Dubai Lady (dha) 03Tf (Seeking the Gold-r x Colorado Dancer-r, Shareef Dancer) Real Breeder pp6 Stalked the top three from the rail until the backstretch, then challenged, beating off all but AP. She didn’t let her have it easy, be eventually tired and fell back, managing to keep second a nose from Mariah’s Song.

When Dubai made her move, Mariah couldn’t hold her off.
