| A legend was born on April 19, 1946 in Cheshire, England. Tim James Curry son of Methodist Royal Navy chaplain, James Curry and his wife Patricia. Tim Curry became a boy soprano in the church where he was six years old. Tim began his performing career doing Shakespeare at age ten. He studied drama and English at Cambridge and at Birmingham University, from which he graduated with Combined Honors. His father, James Curry, died when Tim was only twelve. His first professional success was in 1968 where he appeared in the London production of "Hair" for fifteen months. In June 1973 he went to an audition hoping to get the role of Rocky Horror, in the original London production of "The Rocky Horror Show". After singing Little Richard's "Tuttie Fuitti" he landed the lead role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Tim starred in the musical both in New York and Los Angeles before returning to England to make the movie. He played the same role in the motion picture of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" in 1975. It was Tim's first movie. Tim starred in the Broadway production of "My Favorite Year", which earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. In 1989, he went on to appear in the national touring company of "Me and My Girl". Other stage appearances include starring in Tom Stoppard's "Travesties," portraying Mozart in "Amadeus"(for which he received another Tony Award nomination as Best Actor) and in the London revival of "The Pirates of Penzance," for which he won the Variety Club Award as Best Stage Actor. At the Royal National Theatre he appeared in productions of "The Rivals," "Threepenny Opera," "Love for Love" and in "The Art of Success" at the Manhattan Theatre Club. Tim had also released four albums which include "Read My Lips", "Fearless", "Simplicity", and "The Best of Tim Curry". Tim has done many movies sence his Rocky Horror days. As character, actor, and villan he has appeared in over 20 movies, including "Annie","Clue" (another cult film to add with RHPS), "Legend", "The Shadow", "Home Alone 2", "The Three Musketeers", "Times Square", "Oscar", "Passed Away", "Congo", Stephen King's "It", "The Shout", "The Ploughman's Lunch", "Pass the Ammo", "The Hunt for Red October", "FernGully...the Last Rainforest", "The Pebble and the Penguin", "Lovers Knot", "Scary Movie", "Charlies Angels" and "Muppet Treasure Island". He has been seen on American and British television in "Three Men in a Boat", "Verite", "Rock Follies of '77", "The Worst Witch", "Blue Money", "Earth 2", "Roseanne", "Saturday Night Live" and many, many more. Tim is not married and has no children. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his dog, Frank. |
