Sadly,
Rocky S Currie, lost his battle
with Cystic Fibrosis on Monday
morning, November 5, 2001.
Rocky was only 22 years old.
Throughout
his life, Rocky struggled with
many difficulties while growing
up with Cystic Fibrosis.
However, with the help of many
friends and loved ones, he
fought hard not to let CF take
over his life. Rocky may
have had Cystic Fibrosis, but
Cystic Fibrosis did not
have him.
Rocky
refused to give any glory to his
disease and refused to let it
take over any aspect of his
life. He would rarely
complain about his illness, the
symptoms that he suffered with
daily, or the treatments that
made him better. The last
six years of his life dealt with
living three weeks at home and
two weeks in the hospital, a
hospital which was 100 miles
away. It wasn't much of a
life, packing and moving once a
month. Rocky hated going
into the hospital...but, at the
same time, he tried to keep a
positive attitude about
going.
Rocky
made many special and dear
friends that also had Cystic
Fibrosis. He had times at
the hospital that brought many
good memories...memories such as
wheel chair races, water balloon
fights, board games played until
all hours of the night, watching
movies, and just talking with
friends.
Rocky
was fortunate in his life to
graduate from high school in
1998. He was very proud of
his achievement, because over
half of his school days were
spent in the hospital.
The
times when Rocky was at home and
feeling well, probably best
showed his spirit and passions
in life. His main interest
was in fast mustangs and drag
racing. In his time with
us, Rocky was able to own and
race several mustangs, which
brought a little bit (or a lot!)
of excitement to his life.
Rocky
was a 5'2, 100 pound young man
that was a bundle of joy, humor,
and happiness. He got
along with everyone and had a
very gentle spirit. Rocky
always lived his life to the
fullest. When thinking of
Rocky now, we all know that he
is in Heaven, racing with the
angels. I can only praise
God that he was such a big part
of my life - he was truly a
champion.
Rocky
-
You
will always be remembered and
loved by your greatest family -
all of your friends. We
love you and miss you!
I
love you, Rocky...
