Rockwood Park Model Boat/Ship Sailing Site
Looking at lake from parking lot.  The lake has clear water with various bottom conditions.  There are some lilly pads scattered about the edges of the lake, but virtually no weeds or other debris to foul up model ships' propellers.

There is a No Swimming sign at the beach area and it is unsupervised, so this means there is practically no one looking to use the lake while we are there.  Other lakes in the park are designated for swimming and have life guards on duty in the summer months.

These shots were taken from the access road which runs along one whole side of the lake.  First on looks toward the parking lot, second and third towards the opposite end where there is a small cove and some lilly pads.  There is plenty of room along the sides for captains to launch and operate their models from.  The lake edge is slightly raised as you can see in the photos and this gives a good view of the water.
These mini-rapids are located on the parking lot side, near the middle.  They're not strong enough to suck a model in and it is well barricaded by the stone slabs.  This is the lowest point of the surrounding banks.
Showing small cove on the far end of the lake. Shot taken from the access road, standing on a hill beside the small cove on the far end of the lake.
3 Shots showing the parking lot side of the lake, where picnic tables and BBQ pits are located as well as garbage cans and a portable toilet.  The beach area is located in the corner of the lake, with a good bank and some rocks along the rest of that side.
Next to the Beach is an open arean with some shade from trees, with a small covered structure (on the right in this photo).  BBQ pits and picnic tables as well as garbage cans and a portable toilet are here as well.
Beach area viewed from an overlooking rock.  Large parking lot can be seen in background within just feet of the lakes' edge.
Beach area is partially shaded by trees.  It is shallow and sandy, with clear water and no under-water obstructions, great area to launch and test models.
