The Ground Zero Days
They had 2 giant video screens as well as 4 or 5 TV screens stationed throughout the club
The DJ booth was upstairs and I noticed the DJ randomly putting tapes in the video decks
A frined of mine knew the DJ and I asked him to introduce me to him
The DJ's name was Overdrive amd he said he might be interested in having someone take over the video position
"Come back next week and show me what you can do"
The next week he told me that I had the job and I would be working Thursday nights
I held that position for a year and a half before burning out and handing the gig off to Joey Kidwell of Scorchtone Productions
He burned out and then gave the gig back to me
During this time, I developed my improvisational video mixing skills
I chose to have a common thread running throughout my 4 hour long stints
Theme titles included "Atomic Age", "Oh my Goth", "Horror", "Asian Action" and "Asian Sci Fi", "Drug Scare", "Mechanical"
However, the most popular was "Boobies"
This was the easiest theme to do because it fit in with the fetish theme of Thrusday night and I had TONS of footage of chicks shaking their boobies
I had lots of favorites that I used including "Tetsuo-Iron Man", "The Sore Losers", "Superstarlett A.D." and the incredibly flexible "WAX-The Discovery of Television Among the Bees" (GZ gets the credit for exposing me to this little gem)
Everything went pretty much smoothly until "THE INFAMOUS PIG INCIDENT"
