| JOHN BONHAM OF LED ZEPPELIN |

| What is there to say about this man that has not already been said His powerfull attack was tempered by precision and grace Incredibly precise strokes enabled by a finesse once limited to jazz drummers not only permiated his tom/snare and cymbal work, but his bass drum technique was incredible leading many who have not seen him play to believe he was using double bass drums His sound was gigantic and totally opposite of what drummers (other than Keith Moon) of his day sounded like While most drummers prefered to stay in the background of the mix sounding like they were playing on cardboard boxes, Bonham chose to make his drums come alive with a very open and resonant tuning (very much like the tympani drums he would later employ) |
