NAME: Nebula Hilikus aka Sailor Incubus

NICKNAMES: Neb, Nebby, 'Bula

AGE: 23

HEIGHT: 6' 0"

FAVORITE FOOD: Pizza with broccoli and extra cheese

HATED FOOD: Anything that used to see

LIKES/DISLIKES:

Neb likes to surf, and Neb likes to skateboard. By no means is she like an X-Games hardcore skater chick, but she enjoys the thrill of a good wave or a good trick. She's also very into astronomy, and the possibility of life on other planets. She often keeps her eyes skyward to try and see if can catch a glimpse of a UFO. When by herself, she can be found in her room, candles all around her, listening to some mellow music, immersed in a good book. That is her "special time". Do not disturb. Seriously. She is very big into drawing stuff. She always has her sketchbook on hand, and likes drawing little characters and symbols. Neb has been known to ...*ahem*...be a big fan of the wacky tabacky as well. She owns twelve assorted bongs. Her prized collection.

Lastly, she loves Chuck. For those of you who aren't familiar, Chuck is the strange man with a mustache who is often seen on various Incubus paraphernalia (CD covers, stickers , etc.).

Neb's dislikes are few and far between. She hates blatantly superficial people, as well as those who are close-minded and/or ignorant. Disloyalty is also a big no-no in her book. She rarely watches television.

APPEARANCE

Nebula is very tall and skinny. She doesn't move around with a superb amount of grace, rather, she strolls slowly, doing well with what she has. Her hair is platinum blond and extremely straight and soft, cascading down her back in a long stream, ending at the small of her back. She is rarely seen without some kind of hat on, usually a ski cap or bandana. Her eyes are a dazzling shade of green; A Certain Shade of Green. Tight fitting tee shirts and overly baggy jeans complete her average ensemble. Her lips are somewhat thin, but still retain a somewhat sensual appearance.

As Sailor Incubus...well...as vulgar as it may sound, here goes. Her fuku consists of a bikini top, dark purple in color. One may wonder why such a revealing article was chosen. Since Incubus lead singer Brandon Boyd is a fan of performing without his shirt on, I figured it'd be a good match for their avatar to do the same. She's not the topless senshi...although the idea crossed my mind. Her black pants are extremely baggy, and hang off her hips a bit. She doesn't wear shoes. Why? I don't know. The outfit just didn't come with 'em. Go figure. She likes to be natural and barefoot anyway. In senshi forms, strange red tattoos (identical to Brandon's) appear on her arms.

PERSONALITY

Nebula is laid-back. She never takes anything too seriously, and usually manages to look on the bright side of any given situation. However, if something does manage to piss her off, everyone knows about it. She is not big on hiding or watering down her emotions, so when it's angry time, it's time to back up a bit. They will be ranting and there will be raving.

Nebula prides herself on being an individual. She can't and will never just be one of the hive. She says and does whatever she pleases, and doesn't apologize. However, she is not without her self-doubt. Sometimes she fears that all she is a classic weirdo, and no amount of pride or strength will

ever be enough for people to really see her. She's afraid of being alone.

When thoughts like this occur, Nebula usually becomes very quiet and introspective, opting to go surfing or write or draw something constructive.

On the lighter side though, Nebula doesn't take herself too seriously. She loves to laugh and joke around, never missing a chance to be silly. Taking this into account, marijuana is one of her favorite things in the world. Good times are to be had with a fat sack and good friends.

Also of note is Nebula's very deep spirituality. While she belongs to no secular religion or following, she is enthralled by Hindu and Buddhist teachings, often reading books and practicing new meditative exercises that she learns about. She is a vegetarian, and a lover of life in all it's forms. When it comes to music, Nebula loves it all. As long it isn't completely empty and meaningless, and has a good beat, she's sold. She can also rock the acoustic guitar, hold a note, bang the drums, and isn't too bad on the turntables either.

POWERS

To transform, Nebula uses a tiny ball of green and purple fungus. The song "Drive" blasts to life as she drops it onto the ground. It burrows into the ground, and suddenly, the beginnings of a giant flower surround her. It grows and grows, and engulfs her. She is inside a giant purple lotus. It pulsates three times, then opens to reveal Sailor Incubus.

Glass - a simple attack, Incubus merely holds out her hand, and says the word "Glass". A bright iridescent orb of green light, about the size of a golf ball, blazes to life and hovers above her palm. She blows it softly towards her intended target, and it sails quickly. When it connects, it instantly transforms solid matter into hazy green glass. The effect lasts about five minutes, but if the glass is shattered in that timeframe, the damage is sustained.

Stellar - a power that instantly nullifies the gravitational hold on an intended target. She simply points to whatever she wants, even herself, and says the word "Stellar". The target is immediately surrounded in an indigo aura, and suddenly begins to float skyward.

Aqueous Transmission - not really an attack per se. Nebula has the inherent ability to be underwater for prolonged periods. She can swim very fast, and has a limited amount of telekinetic control over water. With time, it will become stronger.

STORY SAMPLE

The sun had barely peaked on the horizon. In the distance, waves crashed and raged with the morning light, soaking the shore a dark brown. The young man stood barefoot on the sand, looking towards the ocean. It was this time that he loved the most. Where he felt most at peace. He went back into the back of his jeep, grabbing his wetsuit and slipping it on quickly. With any luck, he would be able to catch at least forty-five minutes of quality time with the curls. Grabbing his board, Brandon walked slowly toward the water, a feeling of immeasurable content washing over him.

When the cool Californian water had reached just above his knees, he dove forward onto the board, and began to paddle. One wave hit. Too small. Then another. Fizzed out. The next one that began to form showed tremendous potential. Brandon steadied himself, pushing his wet, salty dark hair out of his face quickly. Just as the wave was upon him, he turned and his arms paddled fiercely. The water lifted him higher than he thought it would. With a silent grunt, he hoisted himself to his feet, trying desperately to maintain balance. This wave was wild; it moved sharply to the left, then lulled to right. It took alot for Brandon to hold on to it, but he succeeded.

With a shift of his center of gravity, he glided into the wave. Nothing existed except the roar of the ocean, then the silence as the water overtook him. Cold. He opened his eyes, saw the shafts of sunlight pierce through the dark, the green of the seaweed, and then swam upwards. He took a breath, blinked the salty burning out of his eyes, and swam over to his board. Good one, he thought. His attention went to shore for a moment, and he saw someone standing on shore, watching him. It was a girl, from the way her body looked. Blond, almost white hair blew at her side, and she watched him intently. A fan, he surmised quickly. Hey, if she wanted to watch, that was fine with him. He just didn't want to bothered right now. This was his time. Another weaker wave crashed over him.

She was indeed watching him. She watched all five of them. She loved them in a way that sometimes scared her. She existed because of them. She, in actuality, was them, or the best part of them. She was the product of their creation. Their music. She wasn't exactly sure when she was born, or what purpose she served other than to watch and love them. She was still new. They were still new. Incubus. That's who she was. She was also Nebula Hilikus though, coining herself out of two of their song titles. As much as she loved them, she needed to be her own person as well, and the name suited her to that end. She liked being here though...on the beach. Brandon liked it too. She often appeared here just to watch how happy he was in the water, just like her. The connection she had to them was so strong. She could feel all of them in her; she knew Jose was talking to his mom right now. Alex and Mike were both sleeping. Kilmore was having breakfast with his friends.

All safe. Safe? Why was she so concerned with their safety? She loved them, of course; but something deep within her sought to protect them from harm. She had power. She wasn't an ordinary human being. Was she even human? Those were the questions that drove her mad sometimes. She craved purpose...maybe even....action. It's funny how fate sometimes answers our prayers on a whim.

She couldn't see Brandon anymore. And she knew right away. Her legs were already pumping towards the sea. Undertow. Brandon is caught in an undertow. She swam hard, forcing herself through the waves. He must be saved. She swam harder, shooting through the water at a speed few have ever seen. She could see him now. He was being pulled harder, fighting against the current. Faster and away from her. It was all happening so fast.

That's when something inside of her took over. Something like instinct. She felt a surge of pressure behind her eyes, and something reached out from inside of her. It took hold of the sea, of the tide, grabbing the young man's now limp form, and reversing the flow of the sea. He came at her fast, and she caught him in her small arms. She swam upwards, and breathed. She looked at him; his color was off. His eyes were closed. He wasn't breathing.

Her legs had already made their way to shore. She dragged him onto the sand. He still wasn't breathing. What could she do? What could she do? There was too much water in his body. It needed to come out. How though? How? She placed her hand on his chest, and looked at his face. Brandon couldn't die. She thought of Mike, and how sad he would be that his best friend wasn't around anymore. She thought of all of them. She thought of Incubus. Incubus couldn't die. She wouldn't let it.

And then she felt it. She felt the power in her. It was her power that had changed the course of the sea. Nebula could feel the water inside of him. The salt water must be purged. She concentrated hard, and felt the pressure behind her eyes. She moved her hand slowly up Brandon's chest, up to his neck, and left a finger on his chin. And pushed.

He coughed. Water spilled out of his mouth, and he took a shallow breath. He coughed once more. More water. Nebula smiled, and then laughed. His dark eyes opened slowly. And he saw her for the first time. His guardian angel. "Wh..." he tried to speak, but his throat burned and tongue felt heavy. She put a finger to his lips, and shook her head.

"Maybe we'll meet further down the river..." she whispered. She helped him to his feet, and steadied him until he regained his balance. And then she was gone. Brandon was left alone on the shore once again. Who was that, he wondered. He shivered, more out of fear of almost dying than anything else. His body still felt heavy, and yet...he was so happy to be alive.

Brandon dug his toes into the sand. Watching the ocean. The wind blew softly out towards him. He wished she was here.
