Camarosmith
– self titled
KICK ASS!!!
This album came out last year
some time however, it is very hard to find, unless you do all your shopping
online. I have never seen this album in
stores and that’s just sad. This album
needs to be in everyone’s face. So this
review may hopefully help boost sales (as if we have anybody reading this and
taking our advice!!!). This band came
about with the short demise of Zeke.
Camarosmith’s drummer is Donny Paycheck, also the drummer of Zeke. So kind of have an idea of what you’re
getting into here.
The Packaging:
The cover is a take on the
Black Sabbath Sabotage cover, the band standing in front of a mirror with their
reflections being their fronts. It’s
exactly the same. Ha. The booklet is simple, 1 fold out with
another band picture in the middle. The
thank you’s, credits and personnel are on the back of the book.
The Music:
This is possibly one of the
strongest hard rock records in the new millennium! This band stands on its own and bares no
resemblance to Zeke, which is great if you’re in 2 bands or an offshoot of a
band. Camarosmith plays hard rock with a
slight blues-ish touch at times. They are a touch Sabbath and a touch new
stoner rock, which is a term I really hate to use,
however, they have that sound. That
sound is not band, its actually usually really good,
but the term blows ass. Ok, back to the
music…the opening song, “It’s Alright” sets a great
tone for the album. It’s a fast paced
rocker that makes you want to drive fast in your mid 80’s ‘sports’ car /
beater. You would hear this album
blasting out of someone’s car while they tailgate at a concert. Each song flows nicely into the next and
keeps you hooked for the entire album. I
honestly can’t say enough good things about this album.
Please go to www.deadteenagerrecords.com and
buy this album. (Oh, by the way, Donny
Paycheck and Ben “Devil” Rew from Camarosmith run Dead Teenager Records, so mad
props to the boys for releasing great records by great bands). If you’re into bands like C.O.C. or Sixty
Watt Shaman then you will go nuts over this album.
