| Britney Spears & The Cast at the Premiere of "Crossroads" BRITNEY SPEARS (Lucy) Is this a dream come true? Yes, ever since I was a little girl this is what I wanted to do so this is a surreal night. It's very cool. Are you satisfied with the film? Oh yeah, very satisfied. Definitely. Did you ask for some profanity to be removed from the script? Yes, because of the kids, I didn't think we should say anything like that. How do you deal with critics? It seems everything they like, I hate and everything they hate, I like (laughing). ANSON MOUNT (Ben) What was it like playing opposite Britney in this film? It was fantastic working with all three of those actresses, this one especially (smiling at Zoe Saldana who was being interviewed next to Anson). Working with Britney was great. She was very, very, very easy to work with because she's a natural. Any qualms about being in a movie with a pop star? No, no. Britney's a smart girl and she knew that she needed to focus which required pushing the singing aside for a few months. She gave us the focus that was going to give her a good product. I think she got one. What do you think of her as an actress? I think that she could have a big future, if she wants one. How was it kissing Britney? It's always a little strange with whoever it is. But you get the giggles out of the way, you check in with the other person, and you just - with a hundred people watching - you kiss. How did Justin react to your onscreen kissing scenes? I've met Justin a couple of times. He's a good guy, and a good sport about the whole thing. Is it true Robert DeNiro ran Britney's lines with you for practice? That has been the single most popular question in the last week. It's been blown way out of proportion. I was on set for "City by the Sea" and he saw me with the script. He said, "What is that?" and I showed him. I told him, "It's this Britney Spears movie. I don't know if I'm going to do it." He said, "Why not? She's great." And I said, "Alright, help me out here." So he ran the lines for a couple of minutes. He played Lucy (Britney) to my Ben. Do you think it's tough for a musician to make the transition? I think that at the end of the day you've either got that relaxed focus you need to turn out a good performance, or you don't. We've seen a lot of people who don't, but Britney does. TARYN MANNING (Mimi) What was it like working with Britney Spears? It was an experience like I'd never had before. Basically it was really cool to hang out with a girl who has so much fame, and just be around her all the time. It was so surreal at times, yet she's so grounded and down-to-earth that it was almost as if I was working with someone who had never done anything. It was cool. How did you three click as a group? We just did. We bonded so much. We spent so much time in the car that in-between filming we'd talk, and get to know each other so much that by the end of the film, we were just so bummed. What are you more passionate about - singing or acting? I'm very passionate about both. Whatever I'm working on at the time, I give my all to. It's like tonight I love this Premiere, tomorrow - maybe something else. How is your band doing? We're doing well. We're going to have our album out this Summer. Is it hard to make the transition from singing to acting? I think my transition is going to be acting to singing. I don't know yet. I've never done this. Is it harder to sing or act? It's harder acting. You have to really find the characters. JUSTIN LONG (Henry) Can you describe your character? I play a guy named Henry. I'm high school chums with Britney in the beginning of the movie. We go to the Prom together and we have a nice little post-Prom Night scene. It's a small part but it was a lot of fun to do. How many times have you been asked about the kiss? Oh, I think we are in the quadruple digits now (laughing). What's it like being at this crazy Premiere tonight? They (the fans) were chanting Justin, Justin, Justin which is kind of flattering. I have a feeling they meant Justin Timberlake though (laughing). How was it acting opposite Britney Spears in her first feature film? It was great. She was real natural. We did some ad-libbing and we just bounced right off each other. Were you a Britney fan prior to this film? I am now (laughing). She's a sweetheart. Did you have any hesitation about starring in a movie with a pop star? No, but it wouldn't matter because I didn't star with her. I really had a small part. If I were to have starred with her, maybe No, I would love to work with Britney again! |
