TIME FOR A CHANGE

My apprenticeship I've served

In the academy of life.

Now it's time to put aside

All the tension, toil and strife.

It's time to do the things

That I've longed to do for years:

The things which give me pleasure

And help to stem my fears.

Although it may be difficult,

The time has come to be

Strong minded and determined,

And think, for once, of me.

For over twenty years, I have

Been shackled to the clock.

A slave of punctuality,

A prisoner in the dock.

My writing always has been,

And ever will remain,

My only true protection:

The thing that keeps me sane.

And, if I can make out of it

Enough to pay my bills:

Then, at last, I may have found

A cure for all my ills.
