Is This Earth's Destiny?

Devastated planet that was once so bright and blue

spinning on its axis, circling the sun,

now, shrouded in a mushroom's cloak, goes dying into space unknown

to join the man-made junk that was to shield our planet home.

Now, man no longer fights with man - a battle deadly to the end -

demoralised, too weak to care, Mankind can only stand and stare

at bodies twisted, burned; at Nature out of all control

with no escape from the sheol.

Too late to stop and count the cost, too late to realise what was lost;

to cries of terror, screams of pain, the leaders called a truce,

but, not before a poisonous flame engulfed the planet Earth.

Horrific to the end the furnace raged and then was gone,

and warring ceased, but,

NO-ONE WON!
