Book Report ~ Historical Fiction

 

Your book report will contain the following elements:

 

  1. Character

ü      List the main characters in the story

ü      Identify the protagonist (main or most important character)

§        Describe their physical traits (tell what he/she looks like, approximate age, etc.)

§        Identify at least 2 character traits (tell what the person is like). Use evidence from the story to support your character traits.

 

  1. Setting – In historical fiction, the setting is important:

ü      Describe where, when, and over what period of time, (a day, a few months, a year, several years), this story takes place.

ü      Tell how the setting is important to the development of the story.

 

  1. Conflict or Story Problem

ü      Describe the story problem that the main character faces.

ü      Describe the steps the main character takes to solve the problem.

ü      Explain how the problem was resolved.

ü      Be sure to use details and evidence from the story in your explanations.

 

  1. What I Learned –

ü      Describe something you learned about this period in history by reading this story.

ü      Use evidence from the story to support your description.

 

  1. Cover

ü      Add the title and author’s name

ü      Draw a scene that you think shows the most important part of the story.

ü      On the back of the cover, (inside), describe what the scene is and why you chose it.

ü      On the lower left corner of the cover, write your name, grade 5, and the date

 

 

 

Your book report is due on Wednesday, April 4th.
