Book Report Open Fiction

v    Setting 

Ø      Identify where and when the story takes place.

Ø      Identify the mood of the story (sad, happy, etc.)

Ø      Use evidence from the story to explain and support.

Ø      Explain how the setting is important to the development of the story.

v    Character

Ø      Who is the main character, or protagonist?

Ø      Describe this character’s physical traits, (what he/she looks   like).

Ø      Describe two character traits of this character, (qualities).

o       Use story evidence to show how the character demonstrated these traits in the story.

Ø      Identify other important characters in the story.  Tell what role they played in the story.

v     Conflict  

Ø      Using story support, describe the main conflict that the protagonist, (main character), has in the story. 

Ø      Name two steps taken by the main character, (protagonist), to try to solve the problem.

v     Cover 

Ø      Your cover must contain a hand-drawn picture that depicts, (shows), an important event in the story.

Ø      On the back of the cover, describe what the scene is.

Ø      Your cover must contain:

§         the title of the book

§         the author’s name

§          your name

§         grade 5

§         the date
