Oh! Im sorry! cried Anna, looking down at the plate of pie, which lay upside down on the ground. She shrugged, Just a piece of pie though. At least is wasnt you.

Itd be better if it were me, Sam thought. The one thing I looked forward to all day. That beautiful piece of pie and now theres none left. Anna threw my piece over the edge. He said nothing. He scooped Trixie up and hugged her close. Then mustering up all his courage he said to Anna, Go away and leave me be! He glared at her from under his long hair.

Anna obediently retreated. Poor Sam spent the rest of the evening in the tree house, sadly reflecting the tragical end of that piece of pie. He stroked Trixie and knew that she felt the same way.

Though Sam and Anna later became friends, that pie always left a sore spot between them. Sam could never quite get over how Anna so stupidly knocked his pie over the edge and Anna could never understand how one piece of pie could be so important.
