As he left his office that evening he saw a little Chihuahua trotting down the street. He picked it up, wondering if it were the missing one. He hailed the nearest taxi and announced that he wanted to go straight to the SWIFT office. As they drove down the street Yentraccm waved them down and hopped in.
Good day, he said to Nosirrah. Is that by any chance the missing chihuahua?
I think it may be, Nosirrah said. I am headed to the SWIFT office right now.
That is where I am headed also, Yentraccm said. You see, I won the other SWIFT prize this morning and want to thank Rrats. You see, I bought him some drum sticks just like the ones Ringo Starr used, as a thank you gift for him making SWIFT such a great station to listen to.
Soon they arrived at the station and Yentraccm and Nosirrah hurried inside. Rrats was just going off the air for the evening when they came in.
Good day, Rats greeted them. I was just getting ready to go home and practice my drums. I glad you came in time.
I was wondering if this is the missing dog, Nosirrah said, holding up the Chihuahua.
I believe it is, said Rrats. I will call Nonnel at once.
However, no sooner had he said this, than the door opened and Nonnel came in. Oh! he cried. You have found Taco-Girl! Thank you, thank you.
He took the little dog in his arms and cuddled her gently. As he adored his newly found dog, Yentraccm presented Rrats with the drum sticks. Oh Thank you, Rrats said. My own drum sticks were about to break.
I am so grateful to you all, Nonnel said generously. I want to take all three of you out to dinner.
So, they all climbed into Nonnels taxi and went out to dinner. While they waited for their food, Nonnel said, How about playing a game?
The other agree that they would play dominoes, for Yentraccm had a little set with him. Nonnel vollunteered to write down the score, so he began writing on a napkin. Nosirrah glanced over at the napkin and saw the Beatles names written downgeorgE harrisoN, pauL mccartneY, ringO starR, and johN lennoN.
Why did you write the Beatles names rather than our own? wondered Nosirrah.
Huh? asked Nonnel, plainly confused. I wrote our names. If they dont look right, it may be because I am dyslexic. Are they backwards?
Yes, they are backwards, said Yentraccm, trying to contain his excitement. Dont any of you get it? Dont any of you see? Our names, written backwards are the Beatles names.
Youre right! shouted Rrats. My name is like Ringo and I play drums!
Yentraccm gasped, And I play bass!
Guitar! Nonnel and Nosirrah called out at once.
They all just stared at each other for a minute and then Yentraccm said, I think this means its time to start a band.
No kidding! cried Rrats.
And as they finished that meal, it was the ending of just the beginning. Every day when they got off work, they would gather in Rrats garage and practice together. They learned every Beatles song, but it wasnt long before they were writing their own songs too. The named their group, The Eltaebs. Pretty soon they were doing concerts all around Tokyo and soon all across Japan. Eventually they became so successful that they all quit their other jobs and made millions with their band. Ever heard of the Eltaebs? Well, maybe not, but you should. Ever seen four long-haired Japanese guys in colorful bellbottom pants and wild-looking shirts? If you have, its probably the Eltaebs. |
