| Chapter 4 JoJo's Discovery |
| When the last of the food was eaten, JoJo led them off to see his amazing discovery. They followed him into yet another bedroom. A striped curtain hung over what would have been though to be another window--or porthole. However, when he pulled back the curtains, a large round TV screen was revealed. A TV, Rita said, wondering what was so special about that. And its round. Maybe Im on it! Paul grinned. No, JoJo answered. Youre dead, remember? Oh yeah, I forgot Paul said. Well, whats so special about a TV screen? Pam finally asked. Just watch this, JoJo said as he picked up a complex remote control. This TV has millions of channels and if you turn on to the right one, you can watch what ANYBODY in the world is doing. Cool! Paul exclaimed. We could see what George, John, and Ringo are up to. Exactly, JoJo said. The thing is weve just got to find the right channel. He turned it on and began flipping through the channels. Hey, Rita said, Theres Mick Jagger. Mick was sitting in the recording studio, combing his hair. Brian was sitting on a stool off to one side, playing Paint it Black on his guitar. Yep, JoJo said. But we dont have time to stop on every person of interest or well never find John, George, and Ringo. Rita wondered around the room and pulled back another curtain like the first. There was a tall book case filled with red books that all looked just alike. She pulled one off the shelf and saw on the cover it said Harley to Hartman. She opened and saw a tremendous list of names, much like in a phone book. However, after each name it told what channel the person could be found on. Not saying a word to the others who were still flipping through the millions of channels, she quickly flipped through the book till she came to Harrison, George. She was surprised to find that there were three different George Harrisons listed. She carefully looked at each channel code so she would remember and quietly returned the book to the shelf. Try C61KM. She suggested. JoJo looked up and said, What on earth for? Just try it, she told him, hoping that it would be the right George on the first try. Much to Ritas dismay, a little boy of about 2 was shown on the screen, sitting in his high chair eating baby food. I dont think this is it, JoJo said, looking aggravated as he flipped to a different channel. Okay, Rita said. Try A43TB. JoJo sighed, but tried it anyway. There George Harrison appeared on the screen, practicing his sitar. Wow! JoJo said. You found it. Good job, Rita, Paul said, patting her on the shoulder. Turn up the volume so we can here if he says anything. The sitar sounds beautiful, Rita said. It has such a cool, haunting, mysterious sound to it. Yeah, Paul said. He sure likes it. He looks sad, Pam commented. No wonder, Rita said. He must miss Paul something awful. Howd you figure out the right channel, Rita? asked JoJo. Then Rita told them about the books she had found. Paul looked up Johns channel next. They tuned in just in time to here an extremely interesting piece. John was on the telephone in the recording studio. He was saying, Yes, I already told you, Paul is REALLY dead... No, dont print anything about it in the paper... No, we dont want anyone to find out or that will be the end of the Beatles... Right... No! Listen, dont give any clues about this. Well have to figure out something... Yeah, I guess youre right. We could never replace him and trick people... No, I still dont want you to tell anyone yet. I want to put this off as long as possible... The concert? Oh yes! I nearly forgot! What are we gonna do? Its only a few days away... Right... Please, dont... Thanks, bye. John hung up the phone looking very depressed and moaned softly, What are we gonna do now? Lets see what Ringos up to, Paul said. Theres gotta be some way we can help them, but I sure cant think how. Paul walked over to the book shelf and reached for the book that said Sorren to Stash. |
