Ted Williams 1918-2002
The Greatest Hitter in Baseball History

On Friday, July 5th 2002, at 8:49AM Ted Williams died of cardiac arrest in Citrus County Memorial hospital. He was the last man to hit over .400 in a season. He hit 145 RBI in his first season with the Boston Red Sox in 1939. He hit a home-run in 1960 closing out his baseball career.

He served in World War II and the Korean War, both interrupting his time on the Sox.

He won two Triple Crowns. Ted Williams hit .344 lifetime and 521 home runs.

Groundskeepers shaved his number 9 at his left-field position, and the flag was lowered to half-staff. At Cooperstown, a wreath was placed at his plaque and a flower arrangement was placed at his statue.

America lost a hero, and he will truely be missed by all of his fans, Red Sox Fans, and Baseball fans all around the world.
