Ewan joined the band as one of the forming members back in September 2001 at the age of 15 years old. Having just arrived fresh from a defunct Speed/Thrash Band he adjusted very quickly and easily to playing a slower more Rock-focused approach to music (i.e. playing cheese)
Ewan began playing the Drums in 1998 under the influence of a Jazz Drummer and progressed into former styles of Rock, Blues and Latin. He also plays Gospel music in Churches and Weddings on a regular basis which also assists in diversifying his style of playing. A previous Rock band also allowed him to indulge in other styles and time structures. In the summer of 2001.

Ewan having long desired to use a Double Bass Pedal resourcefully put two Bass Drums together and thus enabled himself to make more noise, which subsequently annoys the rest of the band. However, in the first week of November 2002 he finally received his left-footed Double Bass Pedal which has enabled him to race along a ferocious pace alongside Dave.
Since the creation of DayGone, the band have moved from a Rock form of playing to a much heavier, faster style. Being heavily influenced by Death and Thrash Metal Ewan has adapted to using much faster drum beats assisted by the Double Bass backdrop to progressing in a more intense direction...and failing...horribly!

Ewan and Dave share the bulk of the song-writing responsibilites and regularly practice and produce songs together before playing them with the entire  band.
