  Low to Mid-Power

Single Pad Design

My first pad design was a simple tripod using 2 1" PVC legs, a spackling pan, a threaded insert with a 3/4" PVC leg and various size rods placed in a bolt.  See photos below-

Parts List-

(2)  1" PVC pieces - 22" long

(2)  1" end-caps

(1)  3/4" PVC piece - 26" long

(1)  3/4" end-cap

(1)  3-way joint w/ 2 1" ports and one threaded port

(1)  threaded joiner with 3/4" port

(1)  spackling pan (for example 4"x12")

(1)  1/2" knuckle nut - 1-3/4" long

(6)  1/2" bolts - 1" long

(1)  1/8" rod - 36" to 48" long

(1)  3/16" rod - 36" to 48" long

(1)  1/4" rod - 36" to 48" long

(1)  5/16" rod - 36" to 48" long

(1)  3/8" rod - 36" to 48" long

 

4-Pad Design

My second pad design was a little more sophisticated and allowed for 4 pads to be accommodated.  See photos below-

 

 

Parts List-

(3)  1" PVC pieces - 5' long

(4)  1" 90 deg elboes

(8)  1" 45 deg elboes

(6)  1" T's

(1)  roof end flashing - 4-3/4' long (see photo)

(4)  1/4" knuckle nut - 7/8" long

(4)  1/4" screws - 3/4" long

(4)  1/4" nuts

(6)  1/4" bolts - 1/2" long

(4)  1/8" rod - 36" to 48" long

(1)  3/16" rod - 36" to 48" long

(1)  1/4" rod - 36" to 48" long

Note that this pad design can be modified in any number of ways to accommodate more pads as needed.  Some examples would include staggered cross members or longer cross members.
