The Return of Mew
By Erin

The action in this story takes place in the distant future. The year is
2011, and Jessie and James are married and expecting their first child.)

Jessie gazed into the mirror as she ran her brush through her long, red hair. For a woman who was three months pregnant with her first baby, she couldn't have been more attractive than she was even before she got pregnant.

"I can't believe I'm actually going to be a mother in another six months," she said to herself. "I'm so excited, and I'm sure James is too! After all, this baby is his as well as mine! I have a feeling that this will be the best experience I've ever had!"

About five minutes later, Jessie came out of the bathroom only to be greeted by James's loving arms. He kissed her tenderly and gazed lovingly into her dazzling sapphire eyes.

"You look exceptionally beautiful tonight, my love," he said.  "Everything about you seems to glow!"

Jessie smiled. "Maybe it's because I'm married to such a wonderful man! After all, you have that same glow! You could say that you're my knight in shimmering armor! You shimmer and you glow!"

"I love you, Jessica," said James. "You've made me so happy these past two years! Now, you're going to have our baby! You'll make a wonderful mother!"

"And you'll make one incredible father, James," said Jessie, running her fingers through her husband's shoulder-length blue hair. "Just think, in six more months, you'll be holding someone other than me in your arms!"

They kissed again and then went to the master bedroom. Once they were there, James carefully picked Jessie up, mindful of her delicate condition, carried her into the room, laid her gently on the bed and held her close to him, just taking in the joy of the moment. After another kiss, they fell asleep in each other's arms.

Later on, at around midnight, Jessie awoke to see a pink aura glowing outside the window. Carefully removing herself from James's arms, she made her way to the window, which led out to the balcony, opened it, and went outside, where she saw a small Pokemon that resembled a cat. Even though it was a bit strange, Jessie recognized it almost immediately.

"Mew? What are you doing here?"
"I came to visit you, Jessie," said Mew. "And to find out what kind of life you created for yourself!"

"As you can see, I have a wonderful new life now," said Jessie. "I'm happily married to James, and I'm expecting my first child! If you ask me, I couldn't be happier!"

"You're every bit as lovely as your mother was," said Mew. "It's a shame that she's not going to see her first grandchild!"
"I know," said Jessie. "But, she still watches over me in spirit, like she's always done! She's sort of my guardian angel!"
"So I see," said Mew. "And I have something to tell you!"
"Really?" said Jessie. "Well, what is it?"
"In another six months," said Mew. "You and James shall be blessed with a healthy, handsome son!"
"A son?"

"Yes," said Mew. "And that's not all! After him, you shall have three more children! The second child will be a daughter, the third another son, and the fourth another daughter!"

"You can tell all that?" said Jessie. "But, how can you?"

"I'm psychic Pokemon," said Mew. "And psychic Pokemon work in mysterious ways! I predict that you and James will be very happy together, as will your children!"

"You're a sweet little Pokemon, Mew," said Jessie. "And to think that I thought you were the reason why my mother died!"

"Ah, but I wasn't," said Mew. "The one who was responsible for your mother's death was Madam Boss herself! She was the one who sentenced her to death! But, I guess I shouldn't be telling you this now that I've told you such good news!"

"No, I needed to hear it," said Jessie. "It was good seeing you, Mew!  I hope we see each other again sometime!"

"We will," said Mew. "And I'll tell Miyamoto that I saw you tonight!  She'd be very proud of you, Jessie! You've become quite a remarkable young woman! Be happy and remember that your mother will always be in your heart!"

Then, as she watched Mew fly away, Jessie felt a tear fall down her cheek. She was certain that everything would go well for her and James, as well as their children. She headed back inside to discover that he too was awake and staring at her with his rich, emerald green eyes.  Apparently, he looked worried.

"Are you all right, Jess?"
"I'm fine," said Jessie, sitting down next to him. "We had a visitor tonight! You remember Mew, right?"
"The little Pokemon we saw on New Island?"

"That's her," said Jessie. "And she told me that our unborn child is going to be a son! Plus, after him, I'm going to have three more children!"

"She told you all that?" said James. "I guess she really is a psychic, especially since she gave you news like that!"

Jessie smiled, kissed him, and stroked his handsome face with her hand. "Oh, James, I couldn't be happier being your wife! When I married you, I knew that I picked the right man to spend the rest of my life with! Not for your money, your name, or what your family stands for, but for your love!"

"And I promise to give you the best of that love, Jess," said James.  "I'll make you the happiest woman on earth!"
"You already have, James," said Jessie. "I'm very happy being with you!"
"I know," said James. "But, I plan to make you ten times happier!"
"You're such an angel," said Jessie. "The same blue-haired angel that I fell in love with as a girl of seventeen!"

James smiled, pulled Jessie closer to him, kissed her tenderly, and they both laid back down, falling asleep again in each other's arms. As the young couple slept, they both knew that the future looked bright, even brighter than it was the day they were married.
