My Barrel Garden

This spring, I decided I wanted to plant my own garden in a barrel. Mom wanted a shade garden under a willow oak. So I cleared out around the tree, added soil and cedar bark, then placed a barrel.

You add charcoal (to keep it fresh), gravel (for drainage) & then soil. The key to great flowers in the barrel is to use Miracle Grow garden soil. There are no weeds and the flowers grow like crazy!

This is a nice area in our yard. It is under a tree with candles and adirondack chars for each of us. Sometimes we have dinner out here.
