| I Almost Forgot |
| Oh America the beautiful, I almost forgot your ugly side- The side where prejustice wears its banner of hatred. I almost forgot Until bullet holes appeared in a window where Muslims worship. I almost forgot Until men were being stopped simply because of their nationality. We were busy singing about our freedom When Afghans felt the need to have police escorts to have their freedom. I almost forgot Until AMERICANS are now feeling unsafe, threatened and scared. So America sing, Sing of how the poor can give you their tired, As long as they do not look like your accused. Speak of how this is your greatest hour As your eyes of prejustice scan for an Afghan. Yell from the mountains-- UNITED WE STAND! But keep in mind, Unitiy was never mentioned Until we found someone to hate. |
