The Supers evolved out of the Toronto-based group "Fall Down Go Boom" around the top studio musician Maury Lafoy (Bass, Vocals) and Graham Powell (guitar, vocals). Added to them were Tim Bovaconti (Guitar) and drummer Jeff Macpherson. The debut of the Supers "Spklanng" shows musical and singing similarities to Crowded House. This is especially evident in songs like "Only you", "Even fools", "Luck and skill" and "Eyes of the world". These songs, the rocking "Turn" and the single "Secret" are the best ones on the album. Unfortunately, some of the others lack melodies that grab you.
Before I forget "Spklanng" comes in a beautiful comic book-style CD package.
