| An interview with Dean of 4Sight Q: Tell us a bit about the history of your band. Who's who in the band? How long have you guys been together? A: Well, I've been in the band for a little over a year now and I play lead guitar and sing. The other three guys, Adam(vocals/guitar), Clay(bass) and Albert(drums) have been playing together for probably 8 years. I use to play in a band called Spoonfed but when that band fell apart I heard through a mutual friend that 4 Sight was looking for a guitar player. So, I went and tried out and it just clicked. We've been playing ever since. Q: How did you come up with the name "4sight"? A: Well, I didn't originally come up with name but it has to do with 4 musicians having the same vision. The vision to create the best music we can and to write songs that not only speak to people, but move people as well. Plus it's easy to say. Q: How would you describe 4sight's sound? A: You know out of all the questions people ask me about this band this is the hardest. I've had people tell me we sound like Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Gun's N Roses, Blink-182, etc. If you ask me I don't think we sound like any of those bands. We sound like 4sight. I would best describe it as radio friendly hard rock that has sing-along choruses, vocal harmonies and face melting guitar solo's. We are always down to try new things, but in the end we all want to write great songs. Q: Have you done any recording yet? A: Yes, we have. We recorded a 7 song EP with our friend David Troia who is definitely the best "unsigned" producer I've ever worked with. Recording those songs was really awesome because it was the first time we got to sit down and take as much time as we wanted to. We got the chance to pick apart everything. Q: Tell us about your fans. Does your music appeal to a specific age group, or does it reach the broad spectrum? A: Our fans are really awesome. I've been playing long enough to know that not everyone is going to like your music so the ones that do are the ones you have to be grateful for because without them you are nothing. I think mostly young people like our music but I've had plenty older people tell us good things too. Q: What have been some of the band's greatest accomplishments, and what do you hope to accomplish in the near future? A: Playing with Hoobastank, 12 stones and Seven Mary Three were some good accomplishments. Also writing and recording a CD we're proud of is always good. Ofcourse, signing a major label deal would be great in the near future but I think writing the best music we can and getting our music out to as many people as possible is just as important right now. Don't get me wrong, if an A&R rep came to my house and offered us a deal tomorrow, I wouldn't think twice about taking it. I just want to make sure we'll have longevity in the music bussiness if we do sign. The only way to do that is to build a big, loyal fanbase. You gotta bring your music to the masses and if you do this the major labels will take note. Q: What inspires you to do what you do? A: I'd have to say fans. There's just nothing better than to write a song you believe in, record it and then to see people sing your song when you play live. Or have somebody tell you that your songs awesome. Also, always challenging myself as a musician. I've been playing guitar for over 13 years but I know there will always be something new for me to learn. I try to never settle for second best and I'm always trying to out do myself. I think if I didn't music would become boring to me Q: Do you have any upcoming shows you'd like to plug? ;) A: We're setting up a show at the Howl'in Wolf in New Orleans toward the end of March. We don't have an exact date yet but I can tell you it's going to be so awesome it will make you want to strip all of your clothes off and do cartwheels!!!!!! Q: Where on the web can your fans find info on the band? A: www.4sightrock.com www.myspace.com/4sightmusic www.purevolume.com/4sight Home |
