LIFTING AN XJ
6 INCHES
Before I start with the install I would like to give you a list of things you will need as well as things you will want. NEED: You will need a set of basic hand tools, all the parts required to do the lift, a jack, jack stands, basic knowledge of how suspension works. (So You do not hurt yourself). WANT: The job is much easier with AIR tools, an air compressor, Friends!! ( that should have been a must, cuz a buddy is always good to have around). WD40 ( gods gift to man) and a nice cool place to do the install.
Now the lift on my cherokee is not a kit sold all together. It was pieced together with all the top parts at the time. So a lift on your cherokee may differ due to added parts.

First the Jeep was pulled into the garage and supported on jack stands.
Then the old 3" lift was striped of. Remove the sway bars, shocks, and coil springs. With the front free, we then unbolted the upper arms and drag link. Then bolted the new Rubicon Express Adjustable arms in place.
Old 3" Rancho Lift
With the upper arms in , we then installed tha lowers. You may need a friend to pull on the axle every which way to line it up.
Next we installed the coil spring spacer
(this was later taken out due to the harsh effects on the stock steering with 8") Now for the springs.
Front suspension mostly apart
You should now remove the track bar so that you can droop the axle as far to one side as you can. On other smaller lifts You can push down on one side of the axle while lifting on the other, and the coil spring will slide right in. For us we had to use a spring compressor due to the 2" spacers already in . The coils I used were R.E., 4.5" zj coils. ( 6" on a cherokee)
Next we jacked the axle up to seat the springs in the right place , and tightened the spring clamps. We then re-installed the drag link, and put on our new track bar. To do the track bar we sat the jeep on the front tires and measured side to side to get the axle straight under the jeep. Then adjusted the track bar to fit.
