Flush Mount Tail Lights
Anyone who owns a wrangler probably agrees that the ugliest part is the big tailer looking tail lights. There is a quick and fairly inexpensive fix. Flush mount lights. Josh recently did this on his 97 wrangler. Flush mounts not only look a whole lot better than stock but also protect the lights from rock damage. This is how he did it.
First he removed the old light. Then marked the center of the old mounting position. Next he used a
4 1/2 inch hole saw to drill through first the dimond plating, then the body.
Here is the picture of the left side hole drill out. Once this is done wire the new lights to the existing harness. There will be no reverse on the new light. after it's wired, just pop the new light and gromett into place.
The next step is to wire the reverse light. Josh already had some back up lights on a switch. So he just wired it to the reverse curcuit. If you do not already have some lights you will need to buy some when you by the flush mounts. Once you do this your done. make sure they work and repeat on the other side.
Josh picked up these DOT approved tail lights at a local Kragan auto parts store for around $8 each. if you don't have a hole saw this big you will want to buy one. They cost about $ 30. But you can do this mod for your friends and the saw will pay for it's self. It can be done with a saw zaw but I would highly recomed the hole saw. This is a great modification for any Wrangler and it's cheap and easy, so whats stoping you now.
