Hello there!! So you've dropped into my site and the first thing that comes to your mind is "what in
the world is this person babbling about?" or maybe "What in the world is Sailor Moon?!?"
.(What's that? You already know what Sailor Moon is?!? What ARE you doin HERE then?)
Well anyway maybe this might shed some light on your questions.
Sailor Moon is a japanese cartoon or anime that was realeased in Japan on March 1992 and ended on March 1997.
It aired for 5 seasons with a total of 200 episodes including several other spin-off movies based on the seasons. The english or NA version of the series was aired in
US on August 1995 The NA version was released by the company DIC and showed the first 2 seasons of this series ie. SailorMoon and SailorMoon R. The popularity of this anime eventually saw it
dubbed and realeased in Europe ie. Germany and France. It was aired here in Australia around 1996 where your's truly saw, watched and eventually became obsessed with it =�.
The anime was based on the popular manga of the Author Naoko Takeuchi, Bishoujo Senshi SailorMoon. The manga centered on your "average" klutzy female Serena. Serena is not
what poeple would call "hero-material". She is severely un-coordinated, horrible at school, etc. IT seems though that destiny would end up making her "The Champion of Love and Justice - SailorMoon"
The stories on the show revolve around how Serena eventually "grows-up" as SailorMoon, defending Earth from the a host of villains, her past and her final "destiny". As the show progresses
she also meets other girls who are destined to fight with her, ie. The SailorScouts, which she soon becomes close friends with.
Today there is two distinct versions/types of this popular anime/comic. The two types are basically the manga (Japanese Comic) version and the anime version. Both versions both say same story ie. SailorMoon BUT it must be
noticed that the two types are almost completely different from each other. Each type has events and storylines that don't appear on one or the other version. Another important
bit of info would be that there is also two "unofficial" considered types of the SailorMoon anime the original Japanese Episodes and the NA Dubs. Most fans online will mention this argument
so I'll remotely menton it to you if you're quite new to this SailorMoon stuff... Basically the NA dubs dropped a couple of episodes and cut up several of the Japanese Episodes. I also
have to mention that if you have only watched the NA Dubs that some site's may refer to the characters in the "original" Japanese names. To help you out here's a small list of their names in the NA dub and their
"original" japanese names:
Serena* (SailorMoon) = Usagi Tsukino
Darien (Tuxedo Mask) = Mamoru Chiba
Amy (Sailor Mercury) = Ami Mizuno
Raye (Sailor Mars) = Rei Hino
Lita (Sailor Jupiter) = Makoto Kino
Mina (Sailor Venus) = Minako Aino
Rini/Reeny** = Nic-name: Chibi-Usa, Real Name: Usagi Tsukino
*NOTE: The English Version of the Manga by Mixxzine refers to Serena as "Bunny". This is a direct translation of her Japanese name which means "Rabbit Of The Moon"
**NOTE: Rini or Reeny as some sites choose to name her is also known as Sailor Chibi-Moon. She becomes another scout in one of the latter seasons of SM which has yet
to be dubbed in English
Also before I forget! If You are surfing around for additional information on SailorMoon and come may come across several other names/scouts. These are known as the "outersenshi***". These are the other SailorScouts
that appear in the latter seasons of SailorMoon which where never shown in the NA dub of SailorMoon. To help any "newbies" to SM here's a small list of their names and what planet their associated with! ^o^
Sailor Uranus = Haruka Tenou
Sailor Neptune = Michiru Kaiou
Sailor Pluto = Setsuna Meiou
Sailor Saturn = Hotaru Tomoe
***Note:The the term "senshi" means soldier or warrior. The original name in the Japanese versions where the Sailorsenshi. The NA dubs changed it to SailorScouts, for what reason only their twisted minds know! ^o^,
