Vital Records:

Births:  Birth records are on file in the the city/town where the birth occurred, in the city/town the parents were living in at the time of the birth, and with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  The charge for a certified copy in Rochester is $2.00

Deaths: As with births, death  records are on file in the city/town where the death occurred, in the city/town where the deceased lived and with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  The charge for a certified copy in Rochester is $2.00

Marriage:  Marriages are on file in the city/town where the couple filled out the marriage intentions and with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  The charge for a certified copy in Rochester is $2.00

Marriage Intentions:  You may file a marriage intention in any city/town in Massachusetts. 
You do not need to be residents of that community.
The marriage certificate is good for 60 days from the date the intentions were filed.
There is a three-day waiting period from the day you file your intentions with the Town Clerk to the date the marriage certificate may be issued.  If you cannot comply with the 3 day waiting period, you may apply to the District Court for a waiver

OTHER SERVICES:

Dog Licenses:  The licensing period is from January 1 to December 31.  The  cost is:
                       Neutered/Spayed Dogs         $7.00
                       Unneutered/Unspayed         $10.00
                       Six Dog Kennel                  $30.00
                       Ten Dog Kennel                 $60.00
                       Commercial Kennel           $150.00

After April 15, a fine of $25.00 will be added to the cost of a dog license.

Massachusetts General Laws require that you present a current rabies certificate in order to license a dog. 

Sporting Licenses:  The Town of Rochester is an Agent for the Div. of Fish and Wildlife and does sell fishing, hunting and sporting licenses.
VOTER REGISTRATION;

If you wish to register to vote, change your address or party affiliations you have the following options:

1. By Mail:  You may pick up a form at the Town Hall or Post Office, fill it out and mail it to the Town Hall to register to vote, change your address, name or party affiliation.  We will send you back a notification form indicating that we have received and processed your application

2.  In Person:  You may come into the Town Hall to the Clerk's Office and register.

3.  At the Registry of Motor Vehicles:  At the time you renew or obtain a Mass. Drivers Licenses, but only at the Licensing Counter, you may register to vote, change your name or address or party affilitation.  The Registry will then notify the Town of Rochester, and we will, in turn, send you notification indicating that we have received and processed your application.

ELECTIONS:

Once you have registered to vote, you are eligible to vote at all Federal, State and Town Elections, as well as Town Meetings.
