Supersonic, sigh, what can I say to describe Supersonic? Except brilliant, quirky, fun, imaginative, fresh, catchy, charismatic. Bla bla you get my drift.
Supersonic has long been a favorite Newcastle band not only to me but also in the hearts of many others. There unique uplifting sound not only rang out to the ears of the locals but worldwide! People could hear that sensational Supersonic sound from miles to come! But surely Supersonic must've started low somewhere? Low? 'Fraid not.
Supersonic played their first gig, was in November 1996 under the name Revolver. They had named themselves after a Beatles album. The boys, Mark Wells on guitar and vocals, Tim Russell on drums, Matt Plummer on guitar and Alex McIntyre on bass won the annual St. Francis Xavier's College Battle of the Bands competition for two years running.  In October of 1998 a band called Revolvar was receiving airplay on the JJJ. So they decided to change their name to Supersonic where they got off an Oasis song.
Supersonic has a long list of achievements, including winning the prestigious National youthweek 'RockIT' song comp. They've played to large audiences at gigs including many all-ages venues as well at the Newcastle and Sydney Entertainment Centres. They've sold out the first pressing of their debut CD, played on national and international radio. Phew! & that's the short story!
The response towards Supersonic have been phenomenal! & as the words of Anthony Scully "grab a hold of a wing and hang on tight." Cos Supersonic are only just get started
