Day 1
Day 1
July 13th 2003
Place: Craigendmuir Camping site in Stepps, near Glasgow
When I arrived at the bus station in Glasgow, I was very happy to see Marten, Alexander and Ellemieke again. I hadnt spoken Dutch for a while and kept mixing it up with English.
But there was a nasty surprise waiting for me; my luggage was lost. There wasnt much space in the coach I had been in, and therefore my luggage was transferred to another coach going the same way. This second coach would arrive a bit later on, so they told me to come back in half an hour or so.
Half an hour later I came back to get my luggage, but it was already gone. The coach that was carrying my luggage had been a bit early (arrived 10 minutes after I left), so they took my luggage with them, up to Aberdeen.
I was told that I had to phone the head office and ask there, because everybody seemed to have forgotten what had happened to it. After spending 10 pounds in a phone booth, and knowing nothing more, I was very agitated. I did not get any sleep that night and my luggage was travelling without me. Every time a bus from Aberdeen came by, I asked the employees of the coach company if they might had retrieved my luggage, but there was no response.
After about ten hours of waiting, my plan was to go to the camping site, set up camp (sleep in the toilet building on the camping without a sleeping bag) and go back the next morning. I decided to wait for just one more bus and ask them if they might had returned my luggage. Then, the most amazing thing happened.
The coach drivers heard over the phone that I was looking for my luggage and brought it back from Aberdeen tot Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow.
I celebrated this with chips and curry and went back to the camping.
That night, I told my friends about my journey through Kent and we played card games and the penny whistle until two oclock.
