Nobody’s Opinion

Vote NOTA

(None Of The Above)
for Justices/Judges

(You can do this by voting “NO” on each one.)

This recommendation
deals with appellate justices who are appointed, and then only run in Soviet/California-style "yes or no" elections. Judges who run for election on their merits are not included in this opinion.

While to some folks it might seem beneficial to vote for some of the better judges, and against some of the worst ones, IMNSHO (InMyNotSoHumbleOpinion) it is much better to VOTE AGAINST THEM ALL.

“Oh no! That’s negative!” wails the fuzzy-feely myrmidon. “We’ll get farther with a positive approach, like supporting them all...”

While I can appreciate efforts to distinguish the good from the bad, in the case of appellate justices, there is no real justice. Since they are all bad, the only positive approach I can see is to positively vote “NO!”

There are many good reasons to vote NOTA for all appellate judges, whether for the District Court of Appeals or the California Supreme Court or any court where judges are appointed.

1. The system is unfairly rigged in the judges' favor. They are appointed (basically for life) and are “re-elected” in a “yes or no” (Soviet-style) election. If there is no real choice, the only way to object to the system is to vote NO.

2. There are no “good ones” there. Some may be “lesser evils”, but they are all awful tyrants.

2a. The lesser of two evils is still evil. The lesser of one evil is even more evil. When there is only one choice, you can’t possibly choose anybody except the most evil.

2b. All California appellate judges have been appointed by Governors of California who have been very careful not to let any libertarians, anarchists, objectivists or independent thinkers into the exclusive club.

2c. To be eligible for appointment as an appellate court judge, a person must first toe the line as “an attorney in good standing” for 10 years, then spend some more years as a Superior Court Judge enforcing tyrannical laws.

2d. Large contributions to the Governor’s campaign are expected from any serious candidates for Appellate Court Justice or any vacant Superior Court seat. It is very rare for a justice to be appointed who didn't make a large contribution to the Governor's last campaign. (Follow the money trail.)

2e. A candidate worth my vote could never get through that demeaning process of 10+ years of persecuting and sentencing non-violent people to prison, being part of a perverted system of injustice that steals from anybody unlucky enough to be involved in it, not objecting when innocent people are fined and/or jailed, and then pay bribes to the Governor in order to get appointed to a higher judgeship where they are expected to maintain the same semblance of justice.

3. Voting “YES” is giving our consent to this tyranny. We may not be able to avoid being ruled and pillaged by these petty tyrants, but I certainly do NOT give my consent.

4. If there were even “a few good judges” worth voting for, serving at the appellate level of the California Justice System, FIJA (Fully Informed Juries) would be operational, drug wars would be virtually dead, and there would be a lot less injustice in the system. Since the system continues on as "use-y’all", we can only conclude that there are not any good people at the top.

5. Libertarians believe that NOTA (None Of The Above) should always be a ballot choice in a free society. Big party politicians refuse to give us that choice. This is the only place on the ballot where we really have the choice of voting NOTA. It is also a perfect place to use NOTA to object to all of the things the legal system does wrong.

6. These entrenched Statists are going to be supported by the "use_y'all" myrmidons and therefore all of them will win no matter how we vote. That’s how the system is rigged in their favor. They are so sure they are destined to win that they don’t even bother to campaign. The voting public is so sure this is a rigged game that most people who think about it don’t even bother to cast a vote on “Justices”. What sad shape our “justice system” is in...

As one of better ways I know to oppose injustice, I plan to exercise my judgment to vote NOTA on all of the appellate judges. Y’all do whatever you think best. Just remember that whatever “justices” y’all vote for are getting your permission to use-y’all however they see fit.

That’s Nobody’s Opinion, and it’s a good one...
